Toyobaru 3 Report post Posted November 15, 2014 Hi all, im Dave from Lincolnshire got a black 86, had it a couple of months and still furiously trying to adapt and get used to it as came from a 320d coupe so a far different daily driver! Hoping once I'm used to the different way you have to drive it ill fall in love with it
rob275 1817 Report post Posted November 15, 2014 Hi Dave welcome along, odd that you haven't completely fallen in love with it already, I think everyone here has! but yes i guess its a tad different from the 320d.
Toyobaru 3 Report post Posted November 15, 2014 On the days i drive it when roads are quiet its unlike anything I've ever driven and I'm more than in love its the best thing ever! On the morning commute however on twisty hilly roads at 50-60 the torque dip seems apparent massively and I'm always in the wrong gear etc, defo a driver education issue at the mo, I'm getting used to it tho
rob275 1817 Report post Posted November 15, 2014 a re-map and good manifold would certainly "repair" the torque dip. Though it won't remove it completely.

Keethos 842 Report post Posted November 15, 2014 Ah sou desu ne! Welcome to the club anyways! The 86 is my daily drive and I don't have any problems with it, it's a good cruiser when you need it too but I suppose I didn't come from a torque happy diesel. To get past the torque dip, just give it some or drop a gear! A remap can help narrow the torque dip like Rob has mentioned too.
Toyobaru 3 Report post Posted November 16, 2014 Thanks everyone, I'm sure ill adapt, i remember feeling the same when i went from my scirocco tsi to the diesel as you just have to drive diesels a totally different way (lazily haha). Love the looks, ethos and fact it has a 5 year warranty!! 1 Polishingpedlar reacted to this
