Door Speakers

Recommended Posts

I have a sub woofer in my boot and amp and DSP and it's all built into the boot floor. I haven't lost any boot space.

Focal speakers are very good. The ones you show in the top pic look like what I've got.

What size is the sub woofer? Hard to gain an idea of scale from the pics.

The Amp that RR can fit to my car can go under the Dashboard !! The Sub isn't to big,so wouldn't take to much room up in the Boot, but the guy was telling me that he is a bit reluctant to house it all under the Boot floor.

From what I can gather the BRZ's that he has done haven't taken into account that the Backseat drops down !

I don't want that blocked as I use mine for Shows etc.....

I can only go by what he stocks in the Shop and he had a huge display of Focal Speakers on the floor.

The Alpine Sub he wanted to put in the car was big and wasn't aware the backseat goes down !!!! It was one of those big Boxes you can get.

I been told by a friend of mine that there is a good Sound Specialist in Burgess Hill so I think I better pay him a visit and see what they can come up with !

Not all boxes have to take up a lot of space, the OEM+ one I have leaves you with all of the boot opening space so you can still get large bits in the boot. I've had the marquee, flags & banner in my car nice and comfortably along with a couple of camping chairs before. You'd need to pay a little extra for some fibreglass work mind you.

rob275: but even that slight trunk volume reduction via OEM+ sub seems for me too much given little trunk space since beginning, due smallish coupe nature. I want to have all there is for bringing stuff around, if needed. Hence currently i'm eyeing new oem+ kit .. but one without trunk sub (C3). About the only space i would be willing to give up is inside of spare tire as in JBL's setup. Also not liking that this sub imho will cover also top knob of potential in future coilover.

It sounds like you need to go to a specialist car audio place, Nigel, rather than a big retailer. It's not that hard to have the sub in the boot. Okay I had a whole boot floor custom made with everything housed in there, including an MDF sealed box in fibreglass for the sub, with the amp and DSP and cables all under the boot floor. The result is I've lost no boot space.

Also ideally a 10" sub is what you want. I went for a 12" as I wanted something with a bit of welly as I like to hear bass guitar, but a 10" is more punchy.

I'm not sure what size you were offered with that Alpine one, hard to tell from the pics, but it did look a little small.

I've just ordered a set of focal PS 165 F3's and will be fitting them today. Should be interesting. Ordered a pioneer amp for the moment as it's punches over their nominal power but wasn't too pricey. Not too sure what to do with the mids. The tweeters fine, the bass cones fine. Is there a separate mount point for mids already there?
