    The British Motor Show

    Thursday, Aug 18th - Sunday, Aug 21st, 2022

    Farnborough International Exhibition Center

This iconic show returned in a new format in 2021, celebrating all things motoring, past, present and future. We took all the things you love about cars and put them in one place. The British motor Show returns in 2022 with more cars, more entertainment and more fun. With an additional hall and even more entertainment, the show will be delivering a bigger and more action-packed fun family weekend!

Home - The British Motor Show

(see also further details in the attached file)

    New for 2022:
    • Additional halls
    • More driving experiences
    • Increased motorsport area
    • New automotive-themed game zone
    • Motorhome and Leisure zone
    • Extended Premier GT Supercar paddock
    • Additional Catering zones

It looks like 2021 was a good show and suggest for next year we try to get a club stand. Even though its a 4-day event looks like its going to be more flexible:

    - we can change cars/ people on different days and have varying number of cars (i.e. 6 on one day; 8 on another, etc)

    - layout of the car club plot can be re-arranged depending on the number of cars we have;

    - cars can be taken home each day and returned on another day, or can be left and collected on the last day;

    - tickets may be free for this attending with the car club (although TBC) for car and driver (not additional passengers)

Kevin (@The Minion) kindly offered to be there all 4 days and I am planning to be there Friday-Saturday. Ideally we would want to have a few people/ cars attending most of the days to have some club representation.

Please let me know who would like to attend (and if you know days that would be great, if not you can decide later). Look forward to organising a club stand in 2022!

  5. I will be going, although not sure if I am able to group up with you lot or is it too late? :)
There is 1 free space at the club stand, see if you can join
(Print out the club stand "pass" - link above. If it doesn't work let me know)

  6. Please find attached your club label. Please ensure that you print this label and display it in the windscreen upon entry to the event, this ensures that all members wishing to park within our club area are directed to the correct parking location by our stewards.

Organizers do ask that all individuals have purchased their tickets on an individual basis in advance via the website, as no tickets will be sold on the day of the event. This can be done on the website here until 2pm on the day when admission closes:  https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/simply-japanese/

Please let me know you can not download attachment

  7. Organisers are asking how many cars are coming to allocate us a club stand.
Please let me know who's coming (my estimate 6?).
Also, they will be releasing more tickets (due to relaxation of Covid restrictions) - if anyone still wants to join keep your eyes open.

  8. I would of come along but I’m busy Sunday morning. However I’ve heard this meet mentioned a few times with different people. Is it full of pop and bang vapers with rust bucket cars? Or do you get the nice cars and owners there? Excluding you and your car of course VAD? I might get along to the next month.
Its a bit of a mix tbh. There were few nice v10 R8s, AMG GTR, but also usual suspects with Nissan GT-Rs, etc.

For a morning drive, coffee and a bacon sandwich and a bit if chit-chat its fine.

This will be 1st after more than a year, next one in August suppose to be bigger/ more interesting, but its on the same day (Aug 8th) as Cult at Caffeine and Machine.

  10. I put events both on FB and on the forum.

Its only natural that some people would be only on FB (and I guess many international FB group members may not have heard of the forum).

Nothing beats meeting in person though, whether its official event, unofficial get-together or a track day. Its good we have club members (Will, Simon, Sam 😀) who regularly organize things and put them in our diaries!

  11. I currently use 245/40 r18 on 9.5 wheels. Plenty of grip and they only look very slightly stretched.

Next set I will try 255/35 but for 9.0 wheels I would keep 245/35 or try 245/40.

I do about 6-8 track days a year. Like MPS4 (particularly in wet), and they last about 1.5yrs/ 10(ish) track days. Will try Eagle f1 supersport next to compare.

  12. We have been asked whether we would like a club stand at The British Motor Show

The British Motor Show. 19th -22nd Aug 2021. More than just a Motor Show

    What is it?

Taking place from 19th to 22nd August in Farnborough Hampshire the show has many different zones, including a large outside club, classics and motorsport display area.

In summary, the show is a fantastic 4-day event to suit car lovers, families, car buyers, tech and electric vehicle fans including:

    • 3 Halls of indoor exhibition space
    • Over 4 acres of outdoor display area
    • Classic car parades in the Live Arena
    • Sporting Bears Dream Rides
    • Automotive celebrities
    • VIP parking

    What do we get?

    • A free outdoor stand space (20m x 20m spaces for 12 cars, which can be increased if required)
    • Free driver ticket
    • 10% members discount using a unique code supplied in a bespoke advert
    • A limited number of spaces in our Live Arena classic car parade.
    • The chance to mix with celebrities - Mike Brewer, Fuzz Townshend, Tim Shaw and more.
    • Professional on and off-line display materials promoting details of your cars. Allowing exhibiting and visitor interaction in a safe and socially distanced environment with our support partner pastdrives
    • And the opportunity to enter the best club display and Crazee robot making competition.
    • A chance to spread your enthusiasm to those wishing to start a career in the motor industry during our Automotive Expo.

    However

Plots must be manned for all 4 days, with the flexibility to change vehicles over each day (before 9 am or after 6 pm).  For those stands that retain the same lineup all weekend full site security will remain in place.

    Standard size stands are 10 x 10 for 6 cars or 20 x 20m for 12 cars (based on an average car being 2m x 4m).

So, the question is do we have sufficient interest to have at least 5-6 cars on each day (Thursday to Sunday) and a volunteer to be responsible for manning the stand on each day?

I can volunteer for Friday 20th, but let me know during the course of the week if you would be interested in joining or volunteer to man the club stand.

The alternative is we just buy public access tickets and meet there on one or more days.

  13. Here is the link to the event in the calendar
