    2021 Club & Social Events

I think its probably unlikely any large events will go ahead prior to June 21st (although who knows), but looks like Simply Japanese at Beaulieu (July 25th) and Go Japan! (Sep 26th) should get enough interest. I will check with organizers whether we would be allowed to have club stands. Assuming yes I will put both events provisionally in the club calendar.

    servicing

I prefer my GT86 being serviced by a specialist rather than any Toyota dealership. Tuning Developments for example is nearly 50% cheaper than what you've been quoted by Toyota (although there is risk you'll end up buying few other bits if you visit Mike [emoji38]). Tbh, my car has not been serviced by Toyota dealership once in nearly 4yrs of ownership (and I get it serviced every 6mth as I have turbo kit and regularly track it). As long as genuine service parts are used the warranty should not be affected (I had few minor bits fixed and battery replaced under warranty). Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

    Oil coolers / baffled sumps

I used stock air box before going FI, but I've got oil cooler at the same time as TD turbo kit. Sorry can't be more helpful, but by the look of it I think it should be fine. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

    (Not so) Newbie

Hey Mani, welcome onboard. Dont think order matters that much, whatever your preferences are. If anything I would say: - suspension before or at the same time as wheels (will give you wider choice if you go with coilovers). - wheels and tyres before FI (its hilarious how fast you can loose traction with a bit more power). In W London you are pretty close to a number of circuits. Both Bedford and Silverstone will be just over an hour away, Donington probably 1.5 ish. Don't worry taking stock car on track, its perfectly fine and will give you better idea what mods you would want to do. I did several track days on stock car before my 1st mods (suspension, wheels, front brakes and TD NA tune). We have a "club" track day at Bedford on Jan 30th (provided it can still go ahead) which imo is a perfect option for 1st track day (even in wet), then Silverstone on Feb 19th (also good for novices despite being fast circuit) and I will also organise group booking for Donington on March 20th. Hopefully will see you around! Enjoy! Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

Daily driven/ track day brake pads

Check disks if you feel judder. I had a slight lip on my, giving judder only when braking at speed over 80 mph (Paddock Hill at Brands was very challenging due to vibration). My experience with pads so far (Ksports BBK fronts, stock rear) - ECB Yellowstuff were absolutely fine, good combination for daily and occasional track day. Not too much dust, no noise. Dont last though, particularly after going FI. - DS2500 front, ECB Yellowstuff rear - ok, but much better with ECB Bluestuff rear. Good life (fronts after 5 track days were just over 1/2 worn, rears lasted over 2 yrs, probably 15+ track days would have lasted couple more). Lots more dust, occasional sqeel but not too bad. I have tried ECB Bluestuff on front and rear, but fronts crumbled on edges and I got a lip on the disk, hence had to change them. After putting BBK on rear as well (DS2500 front and rear) brakes still feel weird with ABS engaging way too early (better in track mode, but Bedford was not to try it out tbf). Need another track day to get used to them. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

  20. We have plenty of space at club stand if anyone keen to join Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  21. I think we might have enough space at the club stand for another car. But online tickets are sold out and they will not be selling tickets at the gate. If someone is not going may be they can sell tickets to you. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
  22. You should be able to use either Tunerfest or Go Japan! ticket (you may need to log in to print it out though), but the ticket did not come with the email. One of the links in the e-mail is the Car Club pass (you fill details yourself) you would need both. They would scan the tickets when you arrive and and will direct you to our area
  23. As @maurice said you should have received details today. Its unfortunately an early start for red zone. Arrival time 7:00-7:30 am and please print your club vehicle passes ENTRY & ARRIVAL When approaching either from the north or south on the A20, please look out for the car club direction signs. You will be directed to the northern access gate. Please have your vehicle pass displayed in the windscreen and your ticket ready. Once in the show are, please head straight to your club stand. Event officials will help direct you. Please look out for them as they are there to help you. A sign displaying your club's name will be positioned in your area and the edges will be clearly marked on the ground. Please make sure all your exhibits fit within the boundaries. Additional space has been provided this year to help with social distancing. We are club #5 with space for 9 cars (I think 10 should fit as there should be a bit extra space). Roughly where we were last 3 years, but 2nd row of clubs rather than 1st. See you Sunday!
  24. I have not heard anything either, guess they are digesting yesterday's Government announcement. Tickets for either Tunerfest or GoJapan should be valid, but we should also get a club stand pass and instructions via email. I was actually planning to send chaser to Simon today, but guess he will be having quite a few people chasing and considering you have done so already I will wait for further correspondence Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
