Ninjaboxer 1 Report post Posted May 1, 2017 Hi, just a quick hello to introduce myself. I feel like I'm cheating a little bit because I'm actually a 7th Gen Celica owner, but it's coming to a point where I'll have to reluctantly replace it soon and natural progression (I had a 6th Gen before this) means I'd like a GT86, but I have some practical reservations. So I hope you'll forgive my ignorance while I read up all the info you have to offer. 1 Keethos reacted to this
Cerastes 204 Report post Posted May 1, 2017 Hi, welcome. You could try and book a test drive at a local dealer and see how you get on 1 Ninjaboxer reacted to this

Yes I think I'll do that. My main problem is that my Celica carries enormous loads of stuff for work on a regular basis and the lack of boot space in the GT is a major concern. If the back seats are dropped down, does that basically leave you with two areas, the boot and the back seat space or is it possible to create one large space? rob275 1817 Report post Posted May 1, 2017 The boot area with the back seats dropped down is completely flat so it opens up in to a very large boot that you can fit 4 standard wheels with tyres in to. That should give you an idea of boot space. It's let down a bit by the size of the boot opening but it's nothing that generally can't be worked around. 1 Ninjaboxer reacted to this
Dessss 35 Report post Posted May 1, 2017 Welcome! I've seen people fit at least 4 tyres into the back with the seats folded down (yes, it creates one large area). Depends what you mean 'enormous loads' to be honest... You'll probably find your answer pretty quickly by looking at google images if I must say Edit: Looks like I'm echoing Rob, but I posted at the same time as him Also, as of yesterday, I've seen people fit a pretty sizable fold-able gazebo into the back of the 86 as well haha! 1 Ninjaboxer reacted to this
Mikey P 32 Report post Posted May 1, 2017 Depends on what you need to fit in, I can get 2 mountain bikes in with wheels off and seats down, but the opening does make it tight to get larger objects through (saloon style rather than hatch) there is also a fair bit of room under boot floor if packing for a camping trip and using all space. 1 Ninjaboxer reacted to this
Cerastes 204 Report post Posted May 1, 2017 The back seats are pretty much unusable anyway, so could take them out and just have a flat space. 1 Ninjaboxer reacted to this
Ninjaboxer 1 Report post Posted May 1, 2017 That's all sounding pretty good, and much bigger than I imagined to be honest. Normal work requires two football sacks which carry 12 footballs plus two large gym bags. I also help out a charity shop too by picking up collections so it can literally fill the entire car at its worst....yes I do abuse it to be fair but I'd have to be a whole lot more careful with an 86 :/
Cerastes 204 Report post Posted May 1, 2017 Failing that, you could always do 2 trips just to carry your stuff. If you love the car as much as we do, you won't mind making 2 trips . Sometimes I "accidentally" forget my wallet just so I can drive back home again and then go out again.
