K8nyx 11 Report post Posted November 16, 2016 Hi guys, any one got any alternative suggestions for the gaps at the side of the headunit now I've replaced it. Bought the facia kit as I needed the brackets to mount but the plastic inserts are awful! But so are the big gaps! Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk You could take the gt86 surround and fibreglass it to make the gap smaller. Shouldn't be too difficult to do then you can use that as an excuse to wrap or paint the interior bits at the same time.
Tareim 343 Report post Posted November 16, 2016 afaik there is only the 1 type of double din fascia and its those plastic inserts that you have

K8nyx 11 Report post Posted November 16, 2016 Very nice Ian, and I think that's the same head unit I've got too! Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Tareim 343 Report post Posted November 16, 2016 only downside to filling and painting it would be you can't put the original stereo back in if you got to sell it and want to keep the radio or you have to find a new panel
Keethos 842 Report post Posted November 16, 2016 Can you post up a picture without the crap panel piece to see what the gap is like? Sent from my EDI-AL10 using Tapatalk

Lauren 2259 Report post Posted November 16, 2016 I've got one of these; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CT23TY33-Car-CD-Stereo-Double-Din-Fascia-Panel-Adaptor-Kit-For-Toyota-GT-2012-/400361531619 To be honest it's absolute crap, but I've had it in place for nigh on four years now. Needs sticky stuff to keep it in place or it falls out.
K8nyx 11 Report post Posted November 17, 2016 Will post pics later, to cold to go outside! Yea Lauren same kit I've got, hate it, looks hideous! Surprised no one does an aftermarket standard double din panel. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Keethos 842 Report post Posted November 21, 2016 Thanks for the pic, any ideas what the width of the side gaps are? Sent from my EDI-AL10 using Tapatalk
remal 85 Report post Posted November 21, 2016 been thinking of replacing the unit with a Apple play one. But knowing the issues with fitment. I don't know what what to do. Best bets for me is the adaptor Lauren posted and a good unit. Agin not sure what to go for
K8nyx 11 Report post Posted November 22, 2016 Don't waste your money on the adapter Lauren has, I got the same one and it's still horrible. Don't know about hers but mine doesn't well at all. Will measure the gaps when I get a sec. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted November 22, 2016 Mine is crap, yes, though it does the job. A better one would be nice, but such things don't bother me that much.
