jhoneyman 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 I crashed/rolled my wife's BRZ (2014 plate LUX edition)Car had just been detailed for 3 days prior so gutted as was a perfect example with not a mark in and out.The insurance didn't pay out as I was only 3rd party so a sore one financially. What are my chances of shifting the car as a complete unit (It still drives as the engine and running gear were unaffected) The main issue is the roof as that was damaged (Hence it being written off) What are my options? Strip it/repair it/sell it? Opinions are appreciated.
nikndel 509 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 I have seen a shell somewhere for sale I think the only way to go if you can find one
jhoneyman 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 Finding a shell is rare. Where did you see that?
Tareim 343 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 I can't imagine it'd be easy to strip it and sell parts on, the cars aren't that old so most interiors should be still in good condition so wouldn't need to buy a set, and no one really seems keen on the FA20 so finding a buyer for that wouldn't be easy either think the easiest option would be to sell as it but it depends how much work you want to put into it

DanJ 374 Report post Posted September 7, 2016 I'd look at how much you can sell it to a breaker for and let them do the hard work. Won't realise the most cash but would be the least effort for a guaranteed return. If you do decide to break it yourself there's a few parts I'd be interested in buying. Matt100 1 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 gutted for you!
jhoneyman 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 We are gutted too. The car aquaplaned on water, spun, hit a ditch and rolled. i'm going to contact some breakers/salvage companies to gauge a price for the whole unit. The car was never recorded as written off so that is positive. I do have space and tools so might end up breaking it. Im thinking (Could be waaaay off though) Engine/Gear box 3K Seats and Trim £500 Rear Diff £200 Others - Airbags etc.. £1.5k
nerdstrike 186 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 If it's any consolation, being a relatively new car will make it easier to disassemble than the usual 9-year-old rusty bolt fests.
Test Drives Unlimited 278 Report post Posted September 8, 2016 Oh dear but the moral of the story for future reference " make sure you are fully insured to drive someone's car " I know that doesn't help you I too saw a whole Shell on eBay not so long ago !! Tareim 343 Report post Posted September 13, 2016 that is some hefty damage, I sure wouldn't want to work on that though if I had the money I'd go full carbon fibre roof panel
