Social drive including coffee or beer

Recommended Posts

Evening everyone.

I'm organising a social drive out around Macclesfield Sunday 2nd October 16.

I'm planning the first route draft this evening.  Should anyone have any suggestions for must drive roads which aren't a million miles from Macclesfield let me know.

Cheers

Morning all

This is my proposal for the route on 2nd October 2016.

Meet either rrg Toyota Macclesfield or tesco depending on numbers.

Take the A573 towards Buxton then the A6 and A6020 to chats worth house either driving through or round the estate.

From chats worth house head towards Chapel en le frith via the A623 passed the chestnut centre and on through Castleton on the A6187.

We will then head to the snake pass Inn for a beverage and sustenance

At the end of the snake make a left turn cutting the corner to the a624 heading to Disley

From Disley take Midhurst Lane then higher Lane to Rainow and back to Macclesfield

TOTAL 89 MILES

APPROXIMATELY 3HOURS OF DRIVING

2 OR 3 STOPS

Opinions please

With the lack of objections this is the route we will be sticking to.

I will do a recce run early next week  to note any potential roadworks and obviously speed cameras and post those up here as well as in the directions on the day.

If i don't end up having to work that weekend, count me in!

Will try and bring along a couple of friends in a MK3 & MK4 MX5 if you don't mind cross branding ;)

That's fine with me.  I was thinking of inviting a couple of mx5 friends. Might even let the girlfriend bring hers.

Ooh good call regarding the F1

I had been thinking a 10.30 meet but I'm open to suggestions.

Race starts at 1pm according to the F1 website.

So option 1

Set off at 9.30 and be back just before the start of the race with the option of taking over a pub and having the landlord put the race on a TV.

Option 2

Meet at 3.30 30mins after the scheduled end of the race with options of meeting early taking over a pub and having the land lord put the race on TV

Option 3

We meet at 10.30 or 11am.  Those that can record the race keep the sports stations off the radio and watch the race when we get back or time depending we head to a pub and ask the landlord to put the highlights on the TV.

Votes please.

Apologies to the f1 fans I posted the time for the Singapore night race instead of Malaysia race as Mike has said so f1 race starts at 8am.  The race is a maximum of 2 hours so the 10.30 meet  (option 3) still works and seems to be the most popular vote so far so unless there is an objection with good reason. That's the time we will meet.

Due to the suggested numbers the likely meet will be tesco.  Not the most glamorous start point but it does have a Costa Coffee.

If you are bringing friends in a second or third car could you let me know so I know how many maps to print out.

If people would like to stop at chatworth house for a 15-20 min photo shoot with the house in the background shout out and I will check the grounds are open and that we wouldn't have to pay entry.

Lastly for my next project dose anyone know of or own a well drained field / car park / other large open tarmac or concreate area.  More info on this to come

Cheers guys and gals

I'm certainly still going lol.  You beat me to the question Lauren.  How many people are coming so I can organise maps / direction.  I have a couple friends in their mx5 wanting to tag along.
