Riceburner 284 Report post Posted March 17, 2015 As some of you maybe aware,i had a few days in Sweden last week courtesy of Toyota/Yokohama at their winter Tyre Proving ground 16 miles from the Arctic circle. Three flights and one fast minibus journey(on roads covered in snow & ice)reaching speeds of 80mph and we arrived at storforsen Hotel in rediness for the full event day ahead. Taken by coach to the Proving ground,Arctic Falls and had a fantastic day out tyre testing in Vw golfs,Audis, and BMws with variuos tyrs fitted and varying surfaces. No driving licences were checked and no instructors to slow you down,it was get in the cars and away you go. Had an absolute blast and learnt the limits of each type of tyre.I was most impressed with the ice track shown in the pic below, you couldnt even stand up without slipping over getting into the car,but out on track with studded winter tyres, you could drive with great grip up to impressive speeds & turning the car with relatively good control. Great few days and proof that winter tyres are essential bit of kit. 1 Keethos reacted to this

Lauren 2259 Report post Posted March 17, 2015 Looks like a lot of fun. Considering an ice track driving holiday for new year next year instead of Amsterdam. Want RWD on the ice of course, so will be looking into it.

Lauren 2259 Report post Posted March 17, 2015 Only trouble is these ice driving holidays seem to be very expensive. Minimum of a grand a day it seems!
