I too have taken out a Prestige policy

Recommended Posts

Like Lauren, I have recently renewed my insurance by taking a new policy with Prestige.

I was previously with Admiral who wanted over double last year's premium for the renewal, but after speaking to them the new price was still higher than I was expecting.

I did the usual comparison sites and even though I've now turned 25, I was shocked at some of the prices coming back.

So I turned to some specialist insurers. Adrian Flux and Prestige to be precise.

Adrian Flux have a great name in the car enthusiast world, but Prestige were able to beat their quote by over £100.

The main thing that made my mind up was the like for like cover on my expensive modifications. It was a main requirement for me and Prestige have no problem in accompanying this.

As far as I can tell, they so insurance a little bit differently to the rest. They take an idea from the States where they want to know more about the driver and their capabilities father than just the car. I was asked if I'd driven performance cars before, for how long, how much bhp the previous cars had etc in order to show that I was an experienced and capable driver. A much more sensible way of working out a premium in my mind as a young yet experienced driver is more likely to avoid an accident than an 80 ear old that's been driving all their life.

Very pleased with the service so far, long may it continue!

Admiral have a habit of doing this I took my cars to them separately  and they recommended multicar waste of time however when I renew and they hike the price I tell them I am off and they back down this has worked for the pat 3 years Prestige have a sort of £300 min price which is what I pay now but will enquire this year

I don't rate flux, woman was pushy on the phone, she's lucky I didn't tell her to f*ck off she was that pushy. And I never swear right guys?

Odd, they bent over backwards for me both this and last year. They were the only competitive quote I could get, however it's down to the other half being young that's the issue with all other insurers it seems.

Don't get me wrong Steve, they were competitive, infact they were  £100 or so cheaper than Sky for me, but the woman on the phone thought a GT86 was a motorbike and was basically forcing me to take the policy out there and then even though I said i'd like to take the quote reference and shop around. Had she given me the reference and let me get on with my day I would of phoned back later on that day to take the policy out. Instead I went with sky as they were more friendly and seemed to know what they were talking about, more than can be said about the woman on the phone @ flux.

Perhaps I just had the wrong person on the other end of the phone, these things happen.

It's funny you say this Rob, I must have spoken to the same girl when I rang them initially. All I wanted to know is if they would be interested in covering me for the mods I was interested in, body, engine suspension.. etc.

She wanted me to take the cover there and then and was very pushy. I too wanted to tell her to f*ck off, and I never swear ^_^

They have agreed to cover my crash beam mod and I have now emailed about cage, buckets, seam welding and airbags removed.. they haven't replied.
