Special K 442 Report post Posted January 19, 2014 Why? I cannot for the life of me see the advantage of doing both - can anyone explain this to me? A properly evolved Ecutek re-map (as offered by both Fensport for turbo and Abbey for s/charger) mitigates any perceived power 'rush' at a damn site less cost than a doubled-up f/i system.. It's a shame they give the power/torque outputs in gobbledegook..... can anyone translate? (I've fallen in love with the Toyota FT1-concept car...) Lauren 2259 Report post Posted January 19, 2014 I think it's a waste of time to go twin charging. The gains are fairly minimal and really it can only be worth doing if you wish to retain drivability if you have a huge turbo on it, that doesn't get going till high revs. Even then it's over complicated and expensive. GT86Jay 202 Report post Posted January 19, 2014 Guys in the US are getting 400bhp+ from a decent single turbo setup....
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted January 19, 2014 Yeah, those guys in the US always get more. I do wonder though at the point of 400bhp+ in a GT86.
GT86Jay 202 Report post Posted January 19, 2014 No idea! Seems a little excessive to me! Defeating the point of the car! Chassis can't be happy with 400bhp. They like going fast in straight lines though!
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted January 19, 2014 It's just how the Americans seem to always make more horsepower than UK equivalents. Bit of a long standing joke really. I can only summise that American horses must be smaller. Well, going fast in a straight line is not really my thing, but obviously some like it. I just think after driving Dave's car, it was more than fast enough really.
Test Drives Unlimited 278 Report post Posted January 19, 2014 I can see the point in having both & one will have to see, depending on if I decide to keep my GT-86 after 3 years
