rob275 1817 Report post Posted November 30, 2013 So it was a skid pan experience?
Subota Boy 402 Report post Posted November 30, 2013 Yes Rob, pretty much, but not going round in a circle (intentionally). Or "drifting on ice", which I found quite difficult. With a new layer of bitumin, even the instructor found it tricky to hold a slide. Certainly practised the delicate art of throttle versus steering input. It was great fun, but I would have preferred a stickier surface on which to unleash the back end.
rob275 1817 Report post Posted November 30, 2013 Agree, the silly wet surface, although fun doesn't provide the grip you really want. That said, it does save the tyres i suppose

Keethos 842 Report post Posted November 30, 2013 Where and what exactly are these events? Are they bring your own GT86 or a dedicated drift around in someone's GT86 day? Also how much and how long?

Keethos 842 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 That's along old distance but I definitely want to do that.....or any other drift experience/lessons.....wonder if there are any ones nearer beside the car limit days.
keelerad 256 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 There's the drift track at Oulton, http://www.driftone.co.uk/about-driftone/oulton-park-drift-circuit we had a go on it on the Toyota track day in Toyotas cars, it's where Huw bumped his BRZ or Snetterton http://www.msvtrackdays.com/car-home/introduction-to-drifting also Buxton is very cheap £20, (and near me), looks more like a stock car track, anybody ever tried it? http://www.driftone.co.uk/drift-events/dwub-at-buxton-raceway Alec
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted December 1, 2013 I've been round Buxton Raceway in my AE86. Cost me a tenner. It's cheap, but the walls that are lined with concrete and the peak district behind them are not very forgiving. You would be bonkers taking your car out there. I did four sessions in the AE86 (I could have gone out all day) and realised that it was simply a matter of time before I hit the armco. Avoid it at all costs. Oulton is a much better bet. Jenny Wren 10 Report post Posted December 2, 2013 Yes Rob, pretty much, but not going round in a circle (intentionally). Or "drifting on ice", which I found quite difficult. With a new layer of bitumin, even the instructor found it tricky to hold a slide. Certainly practised the delicate art of throttle versus steering input. It was great fun, but I would have preferred a stickier surface on which to unleash the back end. I, too, was there and it was like driving on ice - good preparation for winter - but very tricky and when I did get it to drift, I was told to pump the accelerator to prolong the drift. Think I need to go back for a second go....
