Secondary Cat

Recommended Posts

Now if I plan to remove the front cat would this hi flow one make the car MOT legal or do I need to get something custom made ??http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Berk-2-5-High-Flow-Catalytic-Converter-For-Scion-FRS-and-Subaru-BRZ-BT8604-/331019918086?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d12531b06

I've been looking into a new exhaust system and whether or not to get a decat. It turns out there are two cats on the car, one is in the header and one front cat. So you should be fine replacing the front cat. Also weren't you speaking to these guys on the other forum about getting one: http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/GB/Ber...6-BT8604_.aspx?

Right, so, if you change the manifold to one that does not have a cat built in (the front cat is part of the OEM manifold) then you will need to either keep the OEM secondary cat or fit a high-flow one like the one you have suggested.Theoretically any cat from a reputable dealer should reduce the emissions to legal levels - what is the point in making a cat that doesn't do the job - but as always, check with the dealer and make sure you're happy with the answer they give before purchasing... :-)In short, no, you don't need to get something custom made because there are loads of CAT's on the market...

My 200cel hfc (from Hayward & Scott, German, cost £500) met the MOT emissions test on my car... but that was before t/charging and I haven't had a chance to re-rest it since..Spec K
