Burn! Motorsport got a reaction from Gringosteve in Introducing DIXCEL Brake Pads
New website up and running. Also had a rebrand (old name looked too much like "Bum" Motorsport. All the old links still work.
Pads and rotors in stock.

OEM is represented by the blue dotted line below. You can see the areas where the Z type pads that Rob is running far exceed the OEM pads. Initial bite, Fade resistance, pad life and operating friction level.

Still no squeal and the discs are wearing well and even. Very impressed and so much cheaper than OEM

Very well! I am fully bedded in and happy with the performance. Braking force is easily controllable and have heard no squeak. My OEM pads squeaked all the time.
I seem to get a little more dust than with OEM, but nothing concerning.

I have read good things in the US forums about these pads. I wanted something road friendly as I am not planning on hitting the track.
...and an Xmas present mod arrived today ready for fitting in the new year

ES easily withstand track days with road tyres and sub 20 min sessions

My ES pads have arrived today, thanks for decals etc too. They look great quality. Looking forward to fitting them and testing them out.

Pretty impressed with my pads and discs from dixcel. They don't have as much bite from cold than stock pads. But I knew this would be the case before I got them.

Burn! Motorsport reacted to BigJames in Introducing Rigid Collars - club offer
If the offer is still on to test a set for free in exchange for a write-up etc... fire me a PM. I've heard VERY good things about these from friends in Japan, assuming they are the Spoon variant and not another brand.

Yep was changed as part of the service, checked the service report just now.

Ordered a set of the ES front pads last Friday and were delivered on Monday (presumably they'd come next day if ordered on a better week day). Had them fitted on Friday and initial verdict is they're a bit better than the stock pads... however I was losing a lot of confidence in my stock pads by the time I got them changed so it's hard to give a direct comparison! Will see how they go on at Woodbridge...

Burn! Motorsport reacted to Sideways? in Introducing Rigid Collars - club offer
So, I did say things happen slowly in my part of the world....
Anyway, have some before and after alignment readings, you can see that my rear toe was out, and I think that is why it felt a bit more frisky than "normal" at the rear...
Needless to say it is now much nicer to drive and the rear doesn't seem to snap out quite so much as before the alignment...
Anyone found the torque readings for the bolts to drop the subframe yet??
-
Burn! Motorsport reacted to Jamie_GRMN in Introducing Rigid Collars - club offer
The Four bolts that hold the subframe to the car are 145Nm, the repair manual also says a new bolt should be used.
The two bolts on each side that hold the brace on the front in place are 70Nm, bolts can be reused
Hope that helps mate

Burn! Motorsport got a reaction from rob275 in D2 Brakes??
Rob went for a set up way beyond OEM and cannot be compared in price of performance. We can offer pads to outperform OEM for about £120 front and rear and high quality OEM discs for reasonable prices. If your interested drop me a message and I will price tomorrow.

Burn! Motorsport reacted to rob275 in Robs S/C GT86 Project
I'm fairly sure i've put copper grease in places there need not be grease. Because I literally hadn't a clue what I was doing
Don't worry though, they stop and I didn't rub it on the discs. I'm stupid, but not that stupid!

Be interesting to see what you think of them, I fitted the DBA discs before Cadwell and they were fine after some bedding in.

Got the Dixcel discs and pads on the car today, sorry no fitment pics as I was just caked in f*cking break dust it was everywhere! I'll get a pic at some point of them on the car
Initial thoughts are good, but I will be able to test how good they are at Japfest

Burn! Motorsport reacted to Mark@Abbey M/S in Brake judder after track day
it will just be pad deposits due to running the pads over there Temp limit;
try 6 hard stops from 70 to 20mph let the brakes cool BUT don't stop with your foot on the brake;
The another 6 stops the same again let them cool BUT don't stop with your foot on the brake
and 1 more set of 6 stops;
Reason not to stop with your foot on the brakes as the hot pads will leave a deposition of brake material on the rotor , carrying out the 3 x 6 stops we are trying to clean the rotors.
let the brakes cool before parking the car
give that a go it may help

Burn! Motorsport got a reaction from Foulsmell in Best Brakes
The answer to this is in my earlier post. Balance the upgrades you carry out on the front and rear.
I.e use the same compound of pads and match the rotors.
It doesn't sound particularly like you are exceeding the performance of the standard brakes so simply use better brake fluid, brake lines and pads.

Burn! Motorsport reacted to rob275 in Best Brakes
I find 15-20 minutes enough on track for me. Anything else my concentration seems to diminish. Which isn't what I want as it potentially puts myself and other circuit users in danger. So i'm after some pads that will just last that little bit longer with potentially a little bite. Best brakes is like a can of worms. It's clear so far from this thread there are many varying opinions and I guess it's much like tyres and geo setup. It's all down to personal preference.
Obviously some opinion is nice but at the end of the day it should be your own choice
