The headlights are smoked VLANDs … in fact I went for the whole set so have got the smoked VLAND taillights and rear diffuser lights … love them

I didn’t want to spend too much so found these guys in MK who did the job for £160 (all in) … they also turned it around in about 6 hours while I waited at their garage this morning.

I know some refurb shops take 24-48 hours so this maybe not be the best in the quality stakes - only time will tell

Can you show me them, so they smoked them for £160?

Hey @Jay Bamrah sorry didn’t see your message until after I had booked my wheels for a refurb and painting (Gloss Black)

Took the car in this morning and the guys did a great job to turn it around in less than 6 hours at a very reasonable price

This is how they look now 😍

mine are gloss black with a grey laquer finish to give them an off black look aka in certain positions they have a tint of grey to them and the black is less shiny glossy etc

Maybe you just tuned into it. I'd been driving mine for months before suddenly becoming aware of a noise whilst cruising on a motorway. Turned out to the air-con clutch.

Okay good point, I have my service in august so il ask them to just look at it while there but the fact everyone’s thinking the same thing is helping settle my nerves a bit knowing it isn’t something worse so thankyou

Why it's not meant to? Isn't it normal operating mode of it, that it with that clunk engages when asked to by A/C climate control and disengages to save fuel when wished temps reached? Obviously louder if listening with hood opened, less from inside car .. which, to keep weight light has little noise insulation on these cars.

I have had my car from 30-34k miles and it’s only been making this noise for 3 days. I use AC every time I’m in my car so something must have changed in that period is why I’m thinking it can’t be good

The constant noise isn't crickets its your direct injectors, they are noisy by design.

The clunk is the clutch of your A/C engaging as others has mentioned, but the brief rattle once it kicks in is unusual, although its something i wouldn't be concerned about.

Okay thankyou, why wouldn’t it concern you if it’s not meant to be doing it?

Agreed.  The only other thing that cycles like that is the electric fan.

So you guys think if I turn off my air con it will go away? I get my car back on Friday so I will test that and see if that was it.

    thanks guys for the help!

I’d personally just use Toyota’s own 0w-20. Its about £40 for 5 litres.

However…if you are feeling particularly spendy this stuff is £99 for 5 litres…

I just got a 1L MOBIL ow-20 as it’s all I had at my local Halfords and I needed oil badly. But moving forwards I would defo bulk buy it to save money however I would still get the best quality one not best value for money one. I don’t really know how much brands can vary on an oil so I thought best to ask and maybe some people will know.

I see that oil says it’s for the GR and supra at the bottom is there a BRZ version ?

Sure … I am trying to get the car checked in early next month so will look forward to see your wheels

Re the 18” wheels it will really depend on what the budget allows as need to start saving aggressively. Top of the wish list are the likes of Rays / Enkei / Oz, but could settle in on some Japan Racing / Sparco / XXRs - looking to go slightly wider as well so maybe 18x9.5 with new PS4 all around 🤞

Worth mentioning but since we last spoke I got a job at bmw/mini at Marshall’s. I can now get trade prices on alloy refurbs it resprays at myalloys. Probs not worth the drive for u but if u want to then I can try for u

Thanks … this is very useful… good luck with refurb. I am planning to upgrade to 18” next year so didn’t want to spend a lot on the stock wheels (other than getting them painted)

we can always exchanges pictures once the wheels are painted

What wheels u wanna get?? Il show u mine when they’re done

    @Jay Bamrah

Oh sorry … I thought the alloys but it is a good suggestions - would be looking to change the brake discs and pads at some point so hopefully that will get rid of these rusty ones

I haven’t booked my alloys in yet as I am trying to spare a day from work as the garage I spoke to are based in Milton Keynes - likely to be after you get urs done

if you don’t mind me asking - u getting it done locally and how much have u been quoted? I have asked a few places and quotes are anywhere between  £160 to £340

Mine is a professional company I saw their other products the standard is amazing so I was okay to pay the premium. It was £70 per wheel plus they’re fitting my new tyres in that cost. I then had to buy black locking wheel nuts myself as they don’t stock them which I found weird to be fair.

    myalloys.co.uk

i think if it’s done wrong it can very easily look cheap and wrong so I didn’t want to do that.

they’re going to fully refurb the wheel from any dents etc then do it gloss black then apply a grey laquer over that which is like a grey window tint (it gives the gloss black wheels a grey tint to them in certain lighting). If you want diamond cut alloys but the silver but to be grey instead of silver it’s £125 per wheel( that’s what the laquer is traditionally used for)

hope that helped. I know I’m bad at wording things to make sense so you might have to read it 2-3x haha

Thanks @Jay Bamrah you read my mind.

Next on my list to do … found someone in Milton Keynes who is quoting to refurb and paint my wheels gloss black for a very reasonable price … they are only open weekdays so trying to spare a day from work later this month

Also have a back order for the Cobra Resonated Catback Exhaust with Amber Performance so waiting to hear from them in a few weeks so that I can get them fitted in … can’t wait 😍

I would love to see the outcome of that. When will your wheels be finished??

I meant the hubs though in my comment not the wheel alloy itself, ( the bit the alloy would screw into). It tends to rust after a while and looks Orange against the black alloys and red callipers etc.

I’m getting my alloys done black on the 30th if yours will be done before then then send me a photo of it so I can see please haha

  14. I found another rattle which I thought was my passenger seat. Turned out to be this.

    FOOTWELL AREA

tap the silver plastic part and it will sound slightly loose. When driving on not perfect roads it sounds like spare change in your pocket but near the door.

to take them off is super easy.

Next get a screwdriver and then press the metal clips on the back to make a firm contact with the plastic part of it. It will now be tight and won’t make any noise.
