  1. I'd like to go to this. I don't know anyone here yet, so how do I find you guys? Do you all meet up at a particular location there?
Clue - they will have GT86s, and Lee is really hard to miss
Will see if I can make it, but if not hope to see you guys Tuesday at Coach and Horses...

  2. I can certainly recommend TD's super resonated.
If you want to stay reasonably quiet/ neighbours friendly thats an option to go for. I can also do any track day, even Thruxton, with decent noise headroom

  3. @VAD17 if you're disks are worn on the edges more then is that an issue with the garage that fitted them, or just the design of the k sports? I thought the whole point of more pistons in the caliper was to give more even pad wear.
I'd definitely invest in a jack to swap the pads although if you have solid ground then you could easily do it with the scissor jack so long as your not rolling around under the car.
These bbk's are great but very very costly on initial purchase and then consumables. You really have to shop around because the price fluctuates so much.
These disks were on the car from Dec 17, they've been through 15+ track days and now on 3rd set of pads.

First 2 sets were Yellowstuff (admittedly was driving with brake lights flashing for last couple weeks), and its only on Bluestuff I noticed some judder at Brands (and only on corners where I had to break hard from high speed, like Paddock Hill bend), though still managed to beat my previous best lap time.

Pads were replaced by Abbey as part of last servicing, they know what they do.

In fact Abbey mentioned judder is due to pad residue (i tend to overbrake and can see some on the disks). It didnt come off after I tried to rebed the pads.

The unevensess of the disks can be felt if I slide the finger over the disk from the top to center, but I dont notice it on daily driving (unless deliberately braking very hard from 80mph to like
I suspect its a combination of my driving style and different pad compound (some suggest skimming disks when moving to harder compounds, according to my google reading at least).

I will see how bad it gets this weekend and may just replace them before next track day at Bedford (and if bearable will take new disks and pads with me just in case).

Here is the photo of the disks 7d9d135d3a0e72b41fcdfca40d0e40ce.jpg7c13b307748726078b558328f8b89624.jpg96684b8e433551a545d6de6b6d6e4be4.jpg

  4. A quick note/ update for those considering BBK and consumables cost.

I had a brake judder (only braking from very high speed, cant feel it on daily driving) and took it  to garage to get disks skimmed. It turned out that I have an uneven disk wear (they are more worn at the edges) so skimming would not be cost effective considering how much they would have to skim.

Now I have to decide whether to (a) keep the current disks for next couple track days coming up in August, bear with some judder and then replace them or (b) replace them now with new ones.

I have got new disks and pads anyway already.

    For reference:

    1) Replacement 356mm disks for KSport

    - Original KSports - £399 (incl delivery).

    - Equivalent from Rayland Motorsport would be £100 cheaper - £295

    - MTEC - £290 (although I have not heard much about them)

Considering feedback/ reviews on Raylands next time I would choose them. Disks seem to last reasonably well from reading forum comments.

    2) Pads

    - Ferodo pads FRP3077H - £230 cheapest I could find online

    - ECB Bluestuff DP5006 - cheapest NDX version I can see online is £130 (I bought my current set for £149)

    - ECB Yellowstuff DP4006R - I can see £124 per set online.

I am going to try Ferodo when I get discs replaced to compare them to Bluestuffs, but I am quite happy with ECBs and think they are very good for the price. Yellowstuff were perfect for street but did not last very long on track after going FI. Bluestuff are considerably dustier, but pretty good from cold (I expected worse) and noticeably better on track (will see what the wear would be when I replace them).

I really need too buy a car jack and keep 2 set of pads - cheaper and good Yellowstuff for daily and then dedicated track pads for 5-10 track days a year I am planning to do. This would probably be better and even cheaper in the long run.

  5. Link to  group buy page

I must admit £1,623 per kit with end plates ("all-in" including custom duties, VAT, delivery charge) is more that I expected (although its a good piece of kit).

Tegiwa tells me just the shipping cost for 5 sets is $1,000, but I have done a quick online calculation using pricing from Verus directly ($1,471 + $275 economy FedEx shipping for 1 set) to see what it would come with including custom duties, handling and VAT and Tegiwa group buy price is cheaper. With bulk shipping we may save a bit on ordering direct, but  not sure it would be worth the hustle.

I am not 100% decided, but given that I have started the group buy discussion if we have enough interest will most likely join and happy to communicate with Tegiwa and arrange this.

  6. As promised details of proposed group buy below:

Verus Engineering Ventus 1 Aero package + Endplates include:

    - Street Front Splitter (A0001A)

    https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/zn6-street-front-splitter

    - Race Upgrade (A0004A)

    https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/zn6-race-splitter-upgrade

    - Aggressive/ Non-Aggressive Rear Diffuser (A0012A/ A0030A)

    https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/non-aggressive-rear-diffuser-ft86

    - Rear Suspension Covers (A0016A)

    https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/zn6-diff-rear-suspension-covers

    - Splitter Endplates (A0040A)

    https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/front-splitter-endplates-ft86

Group buy requires a minimum order of 5 units.

Price is GBP 1,623.26 per kit - this is including VAT, import charges, shipping from Verus to Tegiwa and from Tegiwa to our selected place for fitment (£8116.34 total for 5 kits).

Order and delivery will be arranged by Tegiwa Imports. Each will pay to them directly.

We also need to decide if we would like to arrange fitment at the same place and benefit from cost saving and experience.

Above is assuming all of us want the same package plus endplates (note that Ventus 1 Aero set benefits already from package discount), if anyone would like to add anything or have no Endplates pls specify and I will ask Tegiwa to adjust pricing, but suggest we keep it consstent if we can.

Also specify if you need pre-2017 or post-2017 splitter.

Please confirm if you would like to go ahead with this. Once we get 5 we will confirm and proceed (if we don't have 5 the price will be higher)

  7. Looks like we should have 5 to get the discounted price (but not if we have less).

Waiting for Tegiwa to confirm "all in" price. It will be in USD and while its the same order each of us will pay separately if we decide to proceed.

Btw- my back of the envelope math was off as custom duties were not included and VAT will be on cost including shipping, but lets see what the total will be and make a decision accordingly.

Will start a new thread as soon as I get info from Tegiwa

  8. Also, not sure if it's worth mentioning but there are different verisons of the splitter for 12-16 and 17onw.
Thats right, so if anyone is interested in the group buy pls specify which version you would like.

I would be up for it, can try to organise a group buy if we have 4 more members interested

  9. Tegiwa price is $ 1,282 +VAT (excl shipping) for Ventus, same price as directly from Verus.

If we get 5-10 sets, they can offer each for $1,090 (plus shipping and VAT), that's £ 1,080 inclusive of VAT (at today's exchange rate) but excluding delivery.

    Ventus 1 package includes:

    - A0001A Street Front Splitter

    - A0004A Race Upgrade

    - A0012A/ A0003A - Aggressive/ Non-aggressive Rear Diffuser

    - A0016A - Rear Suspension Cover

I think front splitter end plates also would be a good addition.

I have asked Tegiwa to check that delivery price would be if we get 5 sets and assume we can arrange single garage to fit it all at reasonable price.

Just wonder if there would be enough interest for 5 sets - who would be up for it?

  10. Talked to Clay Warner at Verus Engineering last week.

Their Ventus 1 package (front splitter + rear diffuser + rear suspension cover) would be $1,282, additional front splitter endplates to add $189 (with the same discount as package), so that's a total of $1,471.

Delivery by FedEx to the UK £275.

With the current exchange rate this would be £1.434 (ouch!), and that's without side skirts.

They did not offer a group buy discount, but can ship multiple orders at the same time.

(I have also asked Tegiwa what they can do, will let you know).

To be fair its the best set up I have seen so far, but it certainly does not come cheap.

  11. I should probably add that I noticed substantial increase in pads wear after getting FI (TD turbo kit). My Yellowstuff has reasonably low wear initially, but then 3 track days (Castle Combe, Brands and Bedford) and couple sessions at other events and they were gone...

  12. What made them think it was power drain from the alarm
i have been trying to find out why battery failing and wondered about power drain from somewhere
did they measure the alarm outputs
    let me know outcome
They tested it and decided alarm unit was using more than expected. Allegedly they have retested it after replacement and said its ok.
    Still recommend trickle charger though

  13. On related topic

I had KSports kit now for over 1.5yrs, 10k road miles, dozen or so track days (plus carlimits, pistonheads at Silverstone and even an action day). Used ECB Yellowstuff pads, now on Bluestuff.

After replacing pads before the last track day at Brands ended up with fairly noticeable vibration under heavy braking (particularly into the Paddock Hill bend from 115+ mph). Probably have not bedded pads properly so now a bit of pad material residue on the disks that does not come off (tried couple times on the m-way to re-bed), so the disks need to be skimmed.

The disks themselves show decent amount of wear, probably more than I would expect, but then I do overbrake so for others they could last longer. This said I expect they should last at least another year, which would take them to 15+k miles and about 20 track days in total.

I had a quick look at price for new 356mm disks  - Raylands (J-hook style) would do them for £295, MTEC replacement (grooved) will be £290, KSports original disks from GSM Performance (grooved) £387.

I also don't think pads prices are materially different, I have previously confirmed that the pad size is the same as for one of AP calipers and then doing quick google compare it was not that much of a difference. I did like Yellowstuff, although the way I drive they last about 6-7 track days, but they are quiet and very good from cold, not too dusty either. I am yet to form my opinion of Bluestuff but they are certainly better when hot, ok from cold, but dustier, and I expect they would be wearing disks faster as well.
