I compared display reading to Torque Pro and it was pretty accurate. You can't see exact temp, but its good enough and I use it on track days. It’s at oulton park next month.
i doubt il be pushing it that hard for my first time anyway but I just wanted to double check.
Thanks il make sure it gets backed off before 130. Is there a temperature sensor on the newer cars for the oil display or is it more of an electronic guess

I would ease off if it gets above 125, certainly dont let it go to 130 or over.
I have a TD turbo and an oil cooler, my never goes above 90-100 on the road, even with hard driving. But on track days easily reaches 120+ (track dependent though).
On track if you ease off the throttle the oil temp drops down fairly quickly. I find it can get to 100 ish by the time cool down lap is completed.

Ok - so, lets meet at the parking lot near Kaffe Kix KT13 0XP (café closed on Sundays though) 8:15 - 8:30am
Gates for clubs are open at 8:30am (general admission from 9:00am), parking lot is virtually couple minutes from the gates.
If anyone is late to meet at Kaffe Kix club entrance is 8:30am - 10:00am
We should be using Entrance 2 for the Campbell Gate on the B374 Brooklands Road.
Do not forget your tickets, although they can also be purchased on the date.
We have 7 club passes. I will bring them with me to the Kaffe Kix, anyone who is late should be directed to our Club Stand by marshals (if needs message or call me).
We have 6 confirmed attendees, so 1 more space (unless @gavin_t made up his mind 😎). If anyone else decides to join us, we'll try on the Club stand, otherwise general parking

57 minutes ago, gavin_t said:@VAD17 still trying to work out if I can make this. If I get a ticket on the gate can I still join the stand? Or do we need passes etc?
I have received 7 club passes by post yesterday, so there is one extra for you , and Lou has an extra ticket.
I will bring passes to the parking lot, but if anyone is late tell them you are with the club and they shall direct you to our stand. I will also post detailed instructions later on today or tomorrow.

Bump, in case anyone else would like to join pls let me know

We will have a club stand . This is now confirmed (next to Ferrari and Lotus). I will put the map on tomorrow or Saturday morning
We can still meet at the parking lot around 8:30-8:45 to convoy through the gates together to make it more fun. I will be there.
Unfortunately looks like its going to rain on Sunday.
If anyone is still thinking, now is time to make up you mind and book tickets.
Let me know
See you Sunday

Noise generator just creates cabin noise, removing it should have no impact on the noise level outside. Thanks, good to know that.
Sorry to bother you again, but can I just ask what would be the effect on noise levels if at the same time as this mod the noise generator thingee was done away with by fitting the modified (closed) inlet pipe?
I went for TD N/A package before going with TD turbo. Short of FI its probably the best mod for our cars.
On N/A package noise level change very little, exhaust tone is somewhat different (lower/ deeper even in lower revs) - I liked it more.

I have managed to contact Phil from Brooklands Museum, but still not clear whether they can get us a dedicated parking space
Potential options to meet:
a) Shell station KT13 0RP
b) Parking lot near Kaffe Kix KT13 0XP (café closed on Sundays though)
Both are couple mins from the Museum
Gates open at 9:00am so suggest we meet around 8:30-8:45am to convoy together

I have also renewed my insurance now. 2nd year after going with TD turbo option and a range of other modifications (brakes, suspension, supporting mods for turbo, etc)
HIC (Hertsinsurance) and Adrian Flux were reasonably close, with AF being <10% more expensive.
A number of other specialist brokers/ insurers did not want to insure my address (SW 19 - go figure), or wanted me to keep the car in the garage overnight (good luck, with 4 bikes and bunch of other %&Ap I don't even have enough space for spare car parts ). Though if I were to keep the car in the garage Reis would be reasonably attractive option (but not the best) if I were to get Carlimits or similar certificate and get additional 10% off original quote.
The best option for me at the end was Need 2 insure (https://www.needtoinsure.co.uk/) which arranged comprehensive insurance (for me and wife) + 5 track days inclusive for the same price as prior year one without track days (don't think 12y NCB vs 13y NCB makes much difference to premium now). Doing like for like comparison with the best quote from HIC it gets me track day insurance at <£25 per day. Further, after I have used 5 days I can buy insurance for additional 5 track days for £100 (that's £20 per day).
All main TDOs and tracks covered (including Castle Combe) and European tracks (excluding Nurburgring though) as well. I need to inform then 48 hrs before the track day, which is fine for me as I would typically need to plan days off well in advance.
I have next Silverstone track day covered already, so the question now would be whether I insure 6 days and do couple track days at Bedford (where I think insurance may not necessarily be required unless its properly wet day), or try to go for 11 track days in next 12 moths... hmm...

Advance tickets purchased, list updated
I will try again to see if we can get a parking space together, but unlikely so any suggestions where to meet and convoy are welcome
-
Yes, thats the plan. They should have enough space for usInterested in this. Presumably Denbies would allocate us some hard standing parking, rather than in the adjacent field where Pistonheads parked us?
