Happy to report that the adapters worked a treat, just make sure that the replacement tweeters have a cross over to incorporate the woofers. Replaced the stock setup with a set of fli 6.5 component speakers and added some sound deadening. Whilst they wont win any sound awards they are not a bad upgrade for just shy of £45 for everything.

Defiantly no wiring in the dash for the 3.5" speakers even though there is the cutout and mounting holes for them. At least that has saved me £35 on adding these. Next on the list is upgrade the rear speakers to 4" or use the wiring from the back of the stereo for the rear speakers and wire in an amp & sub, but that is next months project.

Glad to know they fit OK. Mine arrived today.

    Evening everybody.

I have just collected my new GT86 and have a query regards to the speaker wiring in the dash. The UK model appears to only have the tweeters fitted and not the 3.5 speakers in the US models even though there is the mounting points for them. Does anybody know if the wiring for these speakers is tucked away somewhere in the dash or would i have to rewire from the head unit if i wanted to fit these speakers. I know i can buy an adaptor to use the existing connector on the stock tweeter but this would mean changing the tweeters, which I dont want to do just yet. Thanks in advance.

If you know of an adaptor for the stock tweeter connector, could you tell me where I could get a pair of these?

    Regards,

    Matt.

  3. I would just like to say that I'm in my second year of insurance with Chris Knott and the service has been absolutely first class, like no other insurance company or broker that I have dealt with previously.

When I call, I always get through to someone straight away and their staff are competent, articulate, and efficient. When they say that they will call you back, they always do.

They seem to take a common sense approach to modifications. I recently phoned to add another minor mod to my policy (some poly bush inserts), and I was told "no problem sir, we'll note that down on your list of modifications"; an amended list confirming the changes was Emailed to me within minutes; there was no rip-off admin fee for adding the mod.

Price wise, they were not the cheapest for me this year, but they were not far off my best quote.

I know that people will say that you only find out how good your insurance is when you come to make a claim, but on the based on the service I have received so far, I feel comfortable that I would be in good hands should an unfortunate situation arise.

    Matt.

Not 86 related but one of the lads on my Yaris GRMN Facebook group reserved and was due his car from Steven Eagell Cambridge, when he went to collect it had 46miles on it, scuff on the rear bumper and chips in the paint and windscreen from there “PDI” checks...

    Definitely a dealership to avoid

Did he reject the car? They've got one in the Cambridge show room.

Yeesh. Just seen a 10 cm fracture on the far side of the windscreen. I had a chip fixed last autumn, and the whole screen replaced the year before that. Now another one!

Is it just me? Was the first replaced windscreen a weak one? In each and every case it's happened because the car in front couldn't stick to the middle of the lane

It's not just you. I've been through two windscreens in the last year, both times the A142 Soham bypass was the culprit road.

  6. I don't know how true it is, but I've read that a lot of the Japanese branded exhausts are actually manufactured in Taiwan, shipped to Japan in bits, then packaged. Via a legal loophole they are able to market the final product as "made in Japan".

Anyone else know anything about this?

Yes, compared to other cars i had before, heating seems a bit on a weak side, also kicks in later .. but i don't find it as issue. In most cases when it's very cold outside i'm dressed according weather, also often cold weather comes in hand with cleaning ice/snow from car prior taking off, by which time car already somewhat warms up. Frameless windows freezing to rubber seals in these cars were more of an issue to care about in winter, then weak heating.

It's just my feet that get cold, and I don't like wearing thick socks and big boots, because I like to be able to feel the pedals.
