NXB 6 Report post Posted October 17, 2018 Had my 2012 GT86 for about a month now and the vibration of the rearview mirror is really annoying me. Anything over 30 mph and it vibrates so much that everything behind me is a blurr (I can imagine everyone asking me why I am looking in the rearview mirror... lol). Anyone found a replacement that doesn't vibrate?
nerdstrike 186 Report post Posted October 17, 2018 The view does bounce a bit, where the wing mirrors are stable. You could experiment sticking a whole bunch of blutack onto the back to see if it damps the vibrations, then add a bit of mass more permanently. I imagine there's a bit too much flex in the arm or glass mount. It doesn't bother me enough to worry about it, but maybe you have awful roads or stiff suspension. Lowe 191 Report post Posted October 18, 2018 Vibration to the point of blur isn’t normal. Sounds to me like the mirror glass is loose and about to fall out. Quite common.
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted October 18, 2018 It should be perfectly stable. I have an issue when there is a lot of bass, but I have an aftermarket sound system with a big sub. Sounds like your's is loose.
alucardo 55 Report post Posted October 18, 2018 Mine did this just prior to the mirror coming unstuck. I had it replaced by Toyota and the problem has gone away (This was under warranty).
