Kinkle 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Hello everyone. I recently bought a 2nd hand GT-86 last week and i love it. I had a question about the steering though. It feels quite heavy when i turn it. I don't know if its supposed to be like this or if there is something wrong? I used to have a Yaris Hybrid where the steering was really light and you could turn it with one finger if you wanted to. I'm not used to driving sports cars, so i don'y know if its so you can feel the road more accurately or what. Thanks, Mike
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted October 19, 2017 It's heavier than the Yaris and actually has some feel, which the Yaris doesn't. That's how it is.
Kodename47 446 Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Coming from her A3, the Mrs claims that the 86 steering is heavy. Getting into her Audi I struggle to keep it straight on the road as the steering is so light. A bit of weight adds feel....
Gary p 46 Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Definitely heavier than an Audi steering as I drove my dads Q3(shed)😬 Then got back in the 86 and thought there was something wrong. Nothing to worry about it's just the way they are. I do prefer the weighty feel
Nimz 70 Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Yep, just the way it is, when I go from my girlfriends Golf to the 86 the steering feels heavy in comparison. Compared to my old 350z though the 86 feels super light, it’s all relative
bassett 48 Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Interesting i find mine ridiculously light but i guess it depends on the other cars youve driven and use regularly. As its second hand could be worth an alignment check to make sure everything is point straight and check the tyre pressures are equal. 1 Tim86 reacted to this
Tim86 24 Report post Posted October 20, 2017 This, alignment made a huge difference in my second year of ownership. Plus it'll save your tyres if it needed doing.
Guest 86guns Report post Posted October 20, 2017 I’ve had a variety of different sports cars and the trend is for those to have a heavier steering set up than normal cars.
Mike 458 Report post Posted October 20, 2017 I've never felt the steering to be heavy, except when dropping off a yaris courtesy car... then you notice it big time and wonder what they've done to your car!
