KobayashiMaru 28 Report post Posted April 14, 2017 Now the wheels are ordered I want to seal them before we fit them as it's the best time to do it. What sealants are durable? Did look at GTechniq C5 and then C2 on top. What are people using?
Stutopia 158 Report post Posted April 14, 2017 It might look old school but it's great; easy to use, provides good protection, heat resistant, one pot will last your life and that of your children and grand children AND it has a shark on the tin! http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/finishkare-1000p-hi-temp-sealant/prod_589.html http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=89077

I use Collinite wax for the body and while it's good and lasts after a few coats I just wanted something tougher for the wheels 1 BristolLee reacted to this
Stutopia 158 Report post Posted April 14, 2017 With them off the car, you could easily do 3-4 layers, indoors, away from contaminants. It'll hold up very well. 1 KobayashiMaru reacted to this
will300 812 Report post Posted April 14, 2017 C5 is really and durable so long as it's applied properly, you don't need to overcoat it with any other sealant. However depending on the wheel's I will overcoat with Exo. When I had white wheels I did this and they still cleaned up extremely easy after 6 months. 1 KobayashiMaru reacted to this
BristolLee 25 Report post Posted April 16, 2017 As Kobayashi said, Colinite is a very durable 2 coat hard wax. I used it as part of my big yearly detail on the Celica and it's a brilliant product. Lasts well but is time consuming to apply and is expensive purely for wheels. I used Poorboys Nattys Wheel Sealant (or wax, I can't remember the exact name) which was about £15. It's a high temperature wax designed for wheels. If you have a completely fresh or decontaminated surface, I'd go for it! After two full coats coats on freshly powder coated wheels, water was enough to take any dirt and brake dust off and it beaded brilliantly. Plus, importantly, its natural and smells INCREDIBLE
Gary p 46 Report post Posted April 17, 2017 AUTOFINNESE tough coat works wonders on wheels works really well with tough prep first Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rich 378 Report post Posted April 17, 2017 I have C5 (applied to new wheels off the car) and managed to bake brake dust onto my wheels. They did clean up fairly well, but it wasn't that easy.
Igi 28 Report post Posted April 18, 2017 On budget - I'd second Poorboys Wheel Sealant - smells heavenly and for the price and ease of application it's very effective, had them on my previous wheels and the only downside was that it didn't last nowhere near long enough. Now I've got C5 applied and sometimes in between washes topped with C2v3 and I'm always amazed at how easily I can clean the wheels! 1 BristolLee reacted to this
