GT86 from Belgium "Kurokongouseki"

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm Joe from Belgium and have been the proud owner of a black GT86 since february 2014 and i nicknamed her/him/it "Kurokongouseki"... I'll let you guys figure that one out ;)

Here goes:

First wash when i got her:

First things i did were replacing the stock tails with Valenti's and a resonated catback exhaust. The exhaust was custom made by Skytune here in Belgium and it turned out perfect (for me at least, for some it seems to be a bit loud). Also got a Perrin air inlet tube & K&N drop-in air filter :)

Later that year i also got a Tomei UEL header, loved the combo ever since! So much even that i didn't want to further upgrade the exhaust being 'scared' i'd lose the sound it made or became obnoxiously loud... BUT ofcourse i couldn't withhold myself and got an overpipe and milltek resonated front pipe (so no more cats, but i am actually in search of a catted frontpipe so that i can pass emissions testing and still have the performance, without having to switch out the exhaust every time)!

Some videos, so i'll let you guys be the judge ;)

I hated the look the stock wheels had, you know, how they are "sunken in" so i slapped some spacers on it awaiting the moment i could afford coils & aftermarket wheels:

Since i love retro looks on modern cars, especially with this one having quite the heritage from the AE86, i decided to get these emblems custom made, absolutely love them & was worth every penny i paid for them:

Other than looks, i went and actually used the car for what it was made, my god was that fun, sadly these were the only wheels i had at the time so i couldn't go all out...

Other than that i redid my interior dash pieces, they were all paintmatched with the extrior, so my interior is all black with an aftermarket Goliath shiftknob from Anarchy Motive.

Last summer i got myself some coilovers and wheels:
Bilstein B14 coilovers and Rota RKR wheels. Size: 18x9.5 ET44 with 255/35/18 Hankook Ventus V12 all around (actually ET40 with 4mm spacer cause the Bilstein springs are too wide and they couldn't clear the wheels when fully lowered). This problem has been solved though since i switched from the Bilsteins to KW's, for the way i use the car the performance the V1's deliver is more than enough.

We've organised a meet&greet a while back here in Belgium and had about 25 GT86's show up, amongst which 1 BRZ. For Belgium standards and this not being a very popular car here, this was quite a turnout!!

Here are some images:

And this is my own pride & joy, loved her since day one and each day more, even with her charming Toyota rattles!

Also i'm running a "popcorn"-tune on my OFT, which gave me this, car still drives smooth enough to daily it:

This is a before & after, after i installed the KW's, the rear was way too low and dysfunctional on our Belgium and Brussels roads so i fiddled around with the height and i think this is a good ride height.

Then i've once again modified my reverse light! I removed the exterior smoke paint that was on there and baked them open and sprayed all the chrome, black! I'm very happy with the result, especially since now they won't cause any problems at the yearly technical check-ups, which was the main reason for my redoing this little mod :) (Don't mind the bellybutton lol, my friend took the pic while i was painting the stock wheels :P )

And lastly i've painted the OEM wheels (winter setup) gloss black! It's not perfect but as for winter wheels and 30€ i'm definitely pleased with the result! I just sprayed them black and afterwards did a couple of clear coats :D

I think soon my brakes will need replacing and i also need to get the frontpipe sorted (i'm missing the hanger bolt since it vibrated itself out of there lol)

Lastly one of my favorite pictures:

So yeah... i guess that's about it for now... If you guys have any questions, remarks, hints, tips, tricks whatever, just comment :)

Looking forward to being part of this 86/BRZ-community!

Greetz,
Joe

Welcome aboard, Joe, car is looking good!

I'm currently in Brugge on holiday (with my car). I was speaking to some of the Belgian guys on Facebook and they suggested that they will meet up with me on Tuesday as there is some big festival going on this weekend. If you're around I will let you know. :)

I see all the caps and fillers are now red, did you buy those from somewhere or spray the stock ones?

Welcome! Love the car, Wheels really suit it! B)

Thank you very much! I went for a retro design, except that the sizes are kind of too big for being retro but oh well :)

Welcome to the club. Nice car, love the afterfire :D

Thanks! I like it too (like a lot), but it will be over soon lol, i'm going to change out my catless frontpipe for a catted (and maybe resonated) one... That way i can pass emissions and i won't have the gas smell all the time in traffic. My lungs are going to appreciate that i think :P

@Tom B Yeah, the stock wheels aren't too bad when on a lowered car and in combo with some spacers :) Mine used to be 20mm (so 40mm on the axle) in the front, and 25mm (50 total) in the rear :) But now i've sold my front ones and gotten 25mm for there too, although i haven't test fitted them yet... Soon, when winter hits :P
