Gringosteve 213 Report post Posted October 27, 2015 I think it's almost time to replace the front pads and maybe discs. Before I buy the OEM I wondered if there were any better options for a similar price. Ideally don't want to increase dust output significantly and use the car on the road (b road fun to work)
Keethos 842 Report post Posted October 28, 2015 Not sure what options you have if you don't want more dust as most of the aftermarket pads are designed more for performance this usually more dust but I could be wrong. I ran stoptech pads for a bit which were a lot cheaper and had good initial bite but a lot more dust.
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted October 28, 2015 I've ran the Stoptech pads for a while now. Must be getting on for 20K miles, but I admit, it's hard to keep up as I do so much mileage. They're fine and they're a fair bit cheaper. No squeal at all and the dust doesn't seem to be any worse than the stock pads. They seem to work fine on the road. They slightly lack the bite of the OEM pads when cold, but really you just get used to it. They still work fine though. I'm running OEM discs if that helps, I'm on my third set. MikeB 79 Report post Posted October 28, 2015 I run Ferodo 2500 but have braided hoses with higher boiling point fluid. A lot more feel than standard but do squeak a little a low speed.
Gringosteve 213 Report post Posted October 30, 2015 Mine squeak at low speed at the moment anyway. May look at the Ferodo, don't fancy reduced bite of cold Stoptechs.Wonder if any of the slotted discs are worth trying?
