Also accompanying is a Depeche Mode soundtrack The truck in numbers: 8,5 seconds 0/60 150mph top speed on sand. 10.5 tons. Lightweight Space frame chassis. Two 11.6-liter diesel engines, each fed by three turbochargers, producing 1,200 horsepower and a space-time-ripping 3,466 lb-ft of torque. EACH. That's 2,400 hp and near-as-dirt 7,000 lb-ft. Guest Report post Posted June 4, 2015 That is ridiculous James, in a world where we are all suffering from the result of climate change, people are allowed to tune their vehicles as they please. It must use copious amounts of fuel just to satisfy the needs of some petrol headed engineers.. disgusting!! And, as for racing across the desert, well, just think how many midges were killed in the making of this video. I think admin should remove this thread as it may entice our members to start tuning their vehicles and try and achieve similar results, and in so doing, they will be wasting the worlds resources on having fun. JamesP1991 222 Report post Posted June 5, 2015 Can you imagine Ari Vatanen, 1981 WRC Champion, in his specialised 405 T16 600hp monster, seeing just a mountain of dust getting closer and closer in his rear view mirror, only to turn to his left and see some 11 ton truck powering past him at over 150mph. I would have just pulled over and cried at the realisation that I was getting outpaced by a bloody truck! It's a shame that the sister truck had a big 100mph crash over a dune, and due to a fatality DAF withdrew from the event with immediate effect. I think the other one was actually in the overall lead at that point too. The sound of 2400hp powering past your puny little car must have been a sight to behold!
