Nicebiscuit 655 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 Was on holiday in the Loire valley last week, and stumbled across the Matra factory. Interesting company, and as you're all aficionados of small lightweight sports coupes I thought I'll post a few photos. I'll spare you all the people carriers though :-) Oh, and there were a whole host of Le Mans veterans, and Jackie Stewart's '69 F1 car too...

JamesP1991 222 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 Produced some pretty lovely engines too! The Matra V12 produced the best sounding exhaust note of all time! Especially in the 670! Found a cracking video and now I have it on repeat 1 Lauren reacted to this

JamesP1991 222 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 That's glorious! Thanks for posting - I've bookmarked that :-D Not a problem, same V12 that was in their F1 cars that powered Sir Jackie Two other engines that are well worth a listen on YouTube if you are into that kind of thing are the 043 Ferrari V12 and the BRM V16/H16 engines, the latter sounds like something straight out of hell! Nicebiscuit 655 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 Ah, now I've heard a BRM v16 in person.... :-) And here is a Matra V12 - they had a few nicely displayed (including a flat-12) looks almost as good as it sounds. 2 JamesP1991 and Keethos reacted to this
JamesP1991 222 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 Now that is an awesome picture! Whereabouts did you get to hear the BRM lump in person? Very jealous indeed
Nicebiscuit 655 Report post Posted June 1, 2015 Think it was Cholmondely Pageant of Power if my memory serves. Always some good stuff there, including some fairly mental Aero engined pre war specials.
