Guest Report post Posted October 3, 2014 Hi all, Happy Friday!!! I want to fit hydraulic bonnet lifts to my '86 and have seen many kits around at tuners and on Fleabay. I noticed Smudge fitted them to his car and they lifted the bonnet very high. Iwould like to avoid this if possible. Is there a kit that lifts the bonnet to its normal raised position please? rob275 1817 Report post Posted October 4, 2014 I have the one from tarmac sports, it raises it a little higher, but not too far. Infact a little higher is nicer in my opinion..

Guest Report post Posted October 4, 2014 Thanks for the advice. Do the Fensport ones lift the hood higher than standard? I am only concerned about this as I dont want to risk smashing the front of the hood into the opened garage door when reversed into the garage.
Test Drives Unlimited 278 Report post Posted October 4, 2014 All I know is the bonnet goes up in it's own accord and I no longer need to use the built in Bonnet Stay Sent from my Archos 53 Platinum using Tapatalk
rob275 1817 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 fensport are the same as the tarmac ones, infact they are all the same, you can fit them two ways, the other way raises is less than oem
Captain Duff 79 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 I'm not sure I get these. No, scrub that, I am sure I don't get these. What is the big problem with using a bonnet stay? It's simple, lightweight, unlikely to ever break or fail and it works a treat. Or am I missing something?!
Keethos 842 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 Bonnet struts look fancy and none obstructive compared to the normal bonnet stay which can get in the way sometimes.

I want them because the bopnnet stay gets in the way, and I'm not too sure about its fit into the bonnet? It feels quite insecure to me? It also needs to be relocated and bent on some FI applications.
