Lauren 2259 Report post Posted November 4, 2013 Have noticed this since Keith pointed it out at the meet at the Grasshopper in Westerham. I'm really not sure what caused this. I do know I scraped it last week on a driveway but the damage was already there before this. It's at the rear of the undertrays and this weekend I managed to get a twig stuck in one side which I then dragged down the road for about five miles until I noticed the noise. Has anyone else had issues? My car is standard ride height. I'm wondering whether to put something that reinforces it over it like at the front edge of the under tray. rob275 1817 Report post Posted November 4, 2013 Hmm could of been anything, first car i've had that has an undertray to be fair so best it damages the tray than something more costly.
ShinyBRZ 16 Report post Posted November 4, 2013 Some forest springs required? Raise it an inch...? I've grounded mine a few times on bumpy lanes, now I've seen these pics I feel the need to crawl underneath.
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted November 4, 2013 I will be taking my car back to RRG to have the winter tyres fitted in a little over a week. I think it looks like new undertrays are needed, not much else I can do.
ShinyBRZ 16 Report post Posted November 4, 2013 I vaguely recall Subaru had sump guards listed as options. I'll go look for my old brochures.
Mark-in-Stoke 488 Report post Posted November 4, 2013 If it's not structural, i'd just fibreglass it. I'm quite good with FB my friend and I spent many hours on his old chevette towards the end it was about 9o% FB

Lauren 2259 Report post Posted November 5, 2013 I honestly have no idea, Richard. It must have happened since the last service. I remember scraping it last week a bit on someone's driveway, but I know it was damaged before that. I've already pulled one bit off that was hanging down. A mechanic friend has offered to cable tie it, which may be a good solution if there is enough material left to do it. But, I'll let you have a look first of course.
