Minion 132 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 I am on the look out for a some sort of charger that I can leave on my car most of winter to keep the battery in good condition & charged. I haven't used my car in nearly a month now so I'm fairly sure my battery will be as flat as a pancake! I've done some research to not too much avail, does anyone here know or even better use anything like that and can recommend something that will do the trick?? https://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-MXS-5-0-Temperature-Compensation/dp/B00FC42HAA/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1513758651&sr=1-1&keywords=CTEK+CHARGER Was looking at something like that but not 100% if it's the right sort of charger. Thanks Jake
rob275 1817 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 Fairly sure my dad uses something similar to this for his bike and it does the job. 1 Minion reacted to this
Ade 517 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 CTEK are very good. I have the 3.6A one and within an hour it used to charge my knacker battery enough to start the car. The CTEK chargers can be left connected indefinitely. Its a clever little charger and can be used to condition the battery too. 1 Minion reacted to this
Varelco 211 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 CTEK is the way forward. I was in the same boat, a bit of research and it was clear what to go for. Hook it up switch it on and leave it. Simple. 1 Minion reacted to this
Minion 132 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 That's perfect, I was looking along the right lines for once @Varelco Which model did you opt for? I'm tempted to get the 3.8 after what ade said https://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-MXS-5-0-Temperature-Compensation/dp/B00E5VS58Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1513758651&sr=1-1&keywords=CTEK%2BCHARGER&th=

I got mine from Mccormick tools as that was the cheapest place to find it at the time. Unless you got another use for it you wont need the 5 (saves you a bit of cash). The 3.8 is rated upto 85Ah batteries. They seem to be well respected, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lambo and Bentley all sell rebranded CTEK chargers. Mikey P 32 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 Aldi do a version of this type of charger for £14 that's pretty good that I use. They sell them every November but you might find they have some left.
benmmellor 44 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 yep CTEK conditioners are great - I have one for the battery from my RA28 which keeps it ready for use whilst the car is parked up.
Guest 86guns Report post Posted December 20, 2017 Just bought a Ctek 3.8 from EuroCarParts. Does the trick and the harness is just big enough to reach from the terminals to the back of the battery then along the top of the battery clamp to the front. Cerastes 204 Report post Posted January 12, 2018 The MXS 7.0 looks very similar to the one we have in our garage. As everyone else has said, quality and no problems with the make. https://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-MXS-5-0-Temperature-Compensation/dp/B00604UABY/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1513758651&sr=1-1&keywords=CTEK%2BCHARGER&th=
