You say that - but I'm increasingly coming to the conclusion that my car is going to stay stock height, gaping wheel gaps and all even running 18x8s. There's little enough suspension travel on the road as it is... Not quite decided though... There's no doubt they look better a bit lower but the Toyota issue variants running 18x7.5 wheels still run stock springs...

Lowering is a good idea until a slightly high speed bump scrapes the under tray grrrr!

2 degrees negative camber on the front doesn't wear the tyres excessively. I have 1.75 on the rear too, again not a problem. It certainly helps the handling and improves turn in.

I had mine set up at Blink this afternoon to pretty much this , they did mention your set up was the same :)

  4. This seems the right place to put this, I have just fitted proline springs and will have this set up properly so I am aiming for 1 1/2 - 2 deg neg camber at the front and 1 1/2 neg at the rear. Will I need camber bushes to correct the rear as I believe it will be nearer -2 and may differ side to side ? and plan to use camber bolts at the front but is there enough adjustment if I use 2 of the small standard bolts on the strut at the front ?

also what toe settings would you recommend ?

    cheers

Okay I've finally bitten the bullet and booked my car in for a remap at Tuning Developments for 20th March. Felt it could do with a treat in time for the opening round of the TSS, will be very interesting to see how I get on. Reckon I had a date booked within two minutes of messaging Mike! How's that for a speedy response? :)

Also ordered a pair of Yoko V105's so I can lose the Contisport Contact 5's currently on the rear in time for the TSS too. :)

    Very interested in the results.

Me too as TD is not far from me and would rather have a map done close to home incase of any issues.

Lap times are far more complicated than that though. You can see where Kev and I have been quicker than far more powerful cars a lot of the time and also quicker than the forced induction times. Lap times depend far more on the driver and their ability etc. There's also the matter of suspension and setup, so way too many variables to focus on power modifications in isolation.

In regard to the 'torque dip', I'm not sure why people worry about it. If you're driving quickly you are always above it. If you're not, you're below it most of the time. The only time I notice it a little is accelerating in 6th gear on the motorway, where it doesn't really matter that much.

    My mods are:

Injen Induction kit. Full Milltek system, 2nd decat and over pipe. Then there's my suspension stuff and very light wheels.

I get what your saying Lauren, on my clio that I sprinted for a few years a change from T1R to AD08 tyres was 1.5 secs quicker compared to throttle bodies that made only 5/10ths difference (+15hp).

As always the driver makes all the difference.

If you look at TSS results between stock class and mildly modified you get a good idea of lap time differences.

I have but unless you know whats been done to the modified cars is difficult to see what mods work best.

    Cheers

  8. A great thread this and always lots of debate on rr figures but how much difference power wise does it take to show in lap times ? my experience would say very little around the 10-15 hp difference. I keep thinking that the £500+ cost of a map would be better off spent elsewhere to bring lap times down ie tyres, suspension set ups.

Then theres not so much worrying if you have any issues around warranty work.

  9. I have had this a couple of times where the car doesn't see the key so wont lock or unlock. I tried new batteries but made no difference the dealer said that it could be interference from phone masts etc

It has not done it for a few weeks now..... sorry not much help just another "characteristic" of the cars lol
