    Weird rattle...

Hello folks, I recently posted a video about some issues I've been having with my GT86 - In that video I speak of a rattle that I've had for a good month or so now, it seems to happen around the 3000-3500 rpm mark, or rather when the vibration from the engine is a little higher than usual - it sounds like a part vibrating on metal, from the left underside of the car. I imagine it to be something like the exhaust vibrating on something and I originally thought it to be a nut vibrating somewhat, people have mentioned the rattles you get in the GT86, I have them too but this is a little different. It seems to happen more so when the car is cold, but it does happen when it's warm too just not as often (it could be just as often but my music drowning it out) I spoke with the chap who's helped fit a fair few of my parts and he recommended to smack the backbox a little bit in case a baffle had worked its way loose, but given it's under the left hand side of the car I wouldn't be surprised if it was exhaust related (stock exhaust atm). Other people have cited it could be a mount, or a hanger for the exhaust. Anyone had this issue before or something similar, any ideas as to what it could be? Thanks in advance folks
  2. Hello, I will potentially be on the lookout for a set of standard GT86 wheels should nobody want to swap my Bola B15 with a standard set. I know plenty of you have these sat in your shed, I'm not too fussed about tread depth as long as they are 3mm+ and if the wheels are in good condition with minor marks then that's a bonus. I'm based in Leeds - it would be good to see if anyone has a set for sale.

  4. Hello folks, I've decided to part out some of the bits on my GT86 - parts will be for sale due to the sale of the vehicle over the next couple of months. They are still on the car at this moment in time however the manifold and induction kit are being removed this weekend. Cobra UEL Decat Manifold - Covered no more than 750 miles (realistically 500-600) - it will be in great condition, removes the torque dip (even without mapping to a certain degree) - £300 + postage, cost £600 new. Mishimoto Induction kit - As above, no more than 750 miles (probably less as it was fitted after the manifold) - red hose, this is the full airbox/CAIS as opposed to the pipe with a filter stuck to the end. £200 + postage, cost £300+ new. I will also give you the bung for the sound generator which is £15 in itself. Collection is preferred, I am based in Leeds (not too far from the M62/M621) otherwise I can post these products for a cost. Of course they're relatively cumbersome. For some reason I don't get notifications from the site, so please either e-mail me: JJBYouTube@outlook.com, or shout me on Instagram/Facebook - JJBYouTube. Pics will be posted following the removal of the items.

  6. Hello, Alongside some performance parts, I will be looking to sell my Bola B15s + tyres that I purchased for the car 4 months ago. The specs are as follows - 8.5x18 ET37. The wheels are in perfect condition, they were sealed using Autobrite Blendz on all surfaces (faces/barrels etc.). The tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport 4, these were purchased alongside the wheels and fitted before postage, they have covered no more than 1000 miles, realistically it is closer to 750. Plenty of tread left and they compliment the wheels brilliantly. 225-40-R18 are the specs of the tyres. I am initially looking at swapping these wheels & tyres with a set of standard wheels plus tyres with cash my way to the tune of £600-£700 dependent on the condition of your set. Total invoice value for mine were in excess of £1100. I'm based in Leeds - either we could meet up around my area and go to a tyre place for them swapping, alternatively I am more than happy for us/me to swap the wheels across on my driveway. No postage, no silly offers, no silly suggestions to meet up at shady services. I may consider selling them separate should I get my hands on a standard set of wheels in the meantime. Pics below. I can be contacted via DM here although i don't tend to get notifications, so you can either e-mail me - JJBYouTube@outlook.com, or contact me via Facebook or Instagram - JJBYouTube
  7. I may flex on the price for these. Need them gone asap ideally. It does depend on the condition of your wheels though. Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk
  8. Induction kit still available, now removed from the car. £200 collected or I can post it for £215. Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk

    2020 show dates

I went to a tonne of shows this year so it'll be only the few for me in 2020, more than likely the bigger ones, Japfest, TRAX, etc. Got them noted down!

    Meguiar's Foam ruined my car

I wouldn't say the car is ruined as it will just be product residue. Try a good thorough wash first, paying careful attention to the affected spots. If that doesn't work, use something like Just the Tonic from AutoBrite to remove any product residue (and any other products) from the paintwork, you'd then need to seal it some way afterwards.

    Worst Car Ever Driven

I'm going to throw a potentially controversial car in here. Peugeot 206 GTi. I know a fair few people will like them, and I did until I drove one. I was working in the motor trade at the time so it was a good opportunity for me to drive a lot of cars, this particular one came in part exchange and my god was it a lemon. It didn't drive anywhere near the expectation that I had and it felt like it was put together with plastic and some superglue (it is french, after all).

    Hi All

I've only seen positive reviews about Turbo Monkeys recently, they recently built 2 V8s, both with the UZ engine from the Lexus as far as I know.

    Supra Review

Great review Lauren! I'm hoping to get my hands on one soon for a Youtube/video review which will be exciting. The more I look at a Supra the more I need/want one!

    Catback that looks like std?

Yup, it's even worse because now I've realised the Akrapovic is an axle-back rather than a cat-back - which makes it seem ridiculously expensive in comparison. The parts for GT86 and the BRZ are relatively tame in comparison, but still somewhat suffer from a bit of a price hike but I guess thats commensurate with overseas brands such as Blitz, HKS etc.

    Catback that looks like std?

I've come from a Golf R where a catback was £1200 for the cheapest, non valved, non resonated example, and highest being Akrapovic for a £3000 catback! it could be worse!
  16. As mentioned above they'll be happy to quote and say "they'll do it" - but once somebody comes around with a bigger job they'll jump on that instead. I don't particularly agree with that approach as it's money grabbing & you're less likely to recommend them.
  17. I'd recommend similar to the above, go speak to a local garage and they should let you should they have the space. Otherwise jack up from the rear diff and go from there

    Good news

I did a YouTube video on this, or rather the state of play with the new generation. It seems a rather 50/50 split as to whether people want a turbo or not, I'd love one for the tuning capability personally.
  19. As above, if you do it online it'll sort everything out for you. You'll just get a new V5 with the normal registration plates (whatever they choose)

    Felinicide

My route would be cat-less manifold and either stock or 200cell cat in the front pipe regardless of manufacturer. I will probably end up going the Berk route, it's not much of an investment should it be too loud.
  21. Eyup everybody. I haven't posted much on here since owning my GT86. Life admin has got in the way! Anyway, since I'm sat in a hotel prior to TRAX tomorrow I thought now would be a great time to start... I bought the car with just short of 30,000 miles on 5 weeks ago. It sits on around 30700 and I've loved every mile so far. The car had the recall work done before I picked it up (whilst it was for sale). Anyway I have big plans for this one. I started with some small, tame modifications whilst I read up/understood the platform a little more and decided where I wanted to go. Details of the small mods can be found here: (Small sidenote, my YouTube channel will feature the whole 'build', processes, ups and downs etc) There's 11/12 things making its way through the UK postal system to me over the next 14/21 days which will really kick it off. Here are some stock photos of the car as it stands. Be sure to keep tuned to see more updates/my adventures with the 86. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
  22. Its update time! It's been a little while but I've not really had a lot of time on my hands to post these longer messages so bear with me, it will be a bit of a long post! First up we had the installation of the Cobra Sport Unequal Length Decat Manifold - made by Cobra and supplied (very quickly) by Demon Tweeks. I took it over to a friend of a friends to be fitted, it just so happens this friend of a friend also builds and tinkers with his Nissan S14, so he was well versed in working on Japanese cars. The process went very smoothly with all bolts coming out as they should, the only slight set back we had was getting the sensors off the OEM unit & what a beast it is! Very heavy but it does also have the heat shield which wouldn't help. My verdict? I was a little suprised at the sound of the car my naivety told me that all unequal length manifolds will sound the same but as I recently found out the Cobra piece is (again, bear with me) the most equal unequal length manifold, if that makes sense? Looking back and knowing how the car sounds now I'm kind of pleased, it's got this hybrid boxer/usual 4cyl engine noise, lower in the RPM you can hear the rumble of the classic subaru engine, then when you push on it screams as if it was equal length. Full video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUbtwnjatHc Next up, we've had some noise for the rear of the car, it's time to take care of the front. I ordered a Mishimoto Intake kit, yet again from Demon Tweeks, this took a little longer than the other products (everything was ordered at the same time, wheels tyres etc.) - due to a production defect as far as I know. Anyway, the product came and it looks the part, red intake hose with that OEM looking airbox that fits straight into the air feed. I fit this one myself considering it was relatively simple. It sounds incredible and is a LOT louder than I expected. I've gone as far to say that the induction kit has made more of a difference to the overall sound of the car than the manifold... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1euVNxfBasA Next up, the most recent addition, some Tein 15mm springs. Yes I'm aware I say it wrong in the video! These have been sat in my garage since receiving the wheels and tyres way back when I first ordered the parts. I was unsure about the whole 15mm drop and didn't see the point in putting them on for such a little difference.I spoke with Demon Tweeks again and although Tein did offer a lower option, it was 26mm on the front and 16mm on the back. Pointless. I did toy with sending the springs back however by the time I had decided all of the 25mm/30mm springs were on back order for a good 8/9 weeks.Looking back I wish I had just gone for the coilovers. Don't get me wrong the car feels and looks better than it did prior to the install, but I think I've made 2 jobs for myself here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ9hRwqvcyc In other news, I seemed to have been struck down with a battery issue but after taking the installed battery out, it was a 60a battery and not the usual standard one. The car had been sat for 4 or so days with no action and then when I came around to start it it just fell flat. Anyway, an upgraded battery was ordered and we're all good again. Last point - does anyone know how to vacate spiders from the wing mirrors? They keep leaving me presents every time I go out to the car. Thanks!
  23. Afternoon... again I'm after a spoiler for the 86. I did purchase one from one of the forum however it turns out that it's had tonnes of repairs and painted multiple times, so a few of the body shops I've been in contact with wont touch it as they feel it would make the part worse. All options considered depending on price.
