Managed to cover 100 miles so far since getting the 86 back from its recall with new cams etc.

Seems to drive nice enough as it did before and the new clutch feels alot nice rthen the old one so a benefit there 😊 also no more noisey release bearing!

Only niggle I have which I need to contact them with is the Aircon seems very noisey. I am sure before there was no difference in sound on a low fan speed with the Aircon on or off. Now when you switch it on there is a fairly noticeable sound with it on. Anyone able to comment on what theirs is like?

Also invoice states I was charged £10 for an oil filter which is no big problem in the scheme of things but the invoice lists 5w-40 oil. Hopefully just a misprint but need to question this and the Aircon with them tomorrow.  Other then that seems tip top and it's nice to be back in a car you feel connected to the road in unlike the lexus 😂

Thanks @Lauren and anyone else along the way that helped with the issues I had

I'll be honest and say you had more joy than I thought you would have. The previous dealer (if it was different) clearly messed up doing the original work and I would have thought Toyota UK would just point the finger at them and tell them to foot the bill?

On the up side, it sounds like the dealer doing your recall knows what they're doing and should be able to check the engine.

You should be able to get a warranty on the engine because the recall work should give you a year, and it'll be pretty hard to distinguish between oil starvation events if another one happens?

Mike the same dealer had the engine out long before valve springs were a issue

    Hi

Just looking to see who has been through the process of trying to claim for work to be carried out by claiming costs against Toyota.

As some may have seen I am having some issues with my car since it has gone in for its Valve spring recall and am facing a hefty bill for new cams and carriers and associated parts and labour.

dealership have been helpful so far and have offered to put the claim to Toyota  UK on my behalf.

Currently waiting to here back from them on if there has been any success. If there is no joy or similar can you try again or is it a case of once the issue has been raised once a no is a no...

Was happy at first that the dealer offered to do it on my behalf but have since released this means I am out of the loop so don't know what is been said etc.

Got some good evidence for a claim but as the car is a 12 plate the official warranty has long since expired which is my main issue.

Just looking to see who has been through the process and how you went about it

    Thanks
    Gavin :)

If the result is in the negative I would contact Toyota UK just to make sure they are in the loop having dealt with this lot it would be worth checking

Thanks for the reply - I should have mentioned it's got a TD cat back, Valenti's and a K&N on it now. The Admiral quote is all mods disclosed BUT they do not pay out to replace the mods in the event of loss.

I was with Admiral with same conditions but prices got stupid💷💷

Yeh, I've managed to find a different angle to get into the drive which allows me a bit more momentum to get over the ramp so doesn't need so much clutch slip to get in now!

I have the same problem if I can't go up at a angle it won't go up at all 😂

Well, after all that I have a clash!

My daughter has bought tickets for us to take the grandchildren to the Giants of Steam weekend at the Bluebell railway.  The tickets are for sunday, so a separate visit to Brooklands will be necessary for me.  Thanks for organising, Vadim.

Bet that will be a busy one Keith🚂🚂
