  1. It doesn't roll in neutral, even though the car parked slightly downhill.
    Could be the handbrake issue.
I couldn't jack up the car yesterday as it was too late and had to use the other car instead.
The plan for Saturday morning is is jack it up, check if the wheels turn (hopefully finding out) and see if gentle knock on calipers may help.

  2. Looks like brakes seized. Completely out of a blue.

Had a track day on Sunday, drove 145 miles back, no issues.

Wednesday evening starting the car and it wouldn't move. In neautral fine, in gear wheels wouldn't move and if I try to push the throttle pedal (thinking may be rust stuck a bit after heavy rain), ABS engages, the car shakes a bit but still doesn't move.

Cant think what else this can be.

Possibly rear, and I was planning to replace stock brakes with bbk, but hope its not a front calipers or something more serious.

Plan is to find nearby garage and have them on standby and ask if AA can tow me to them, but considering wheels dont turn this may still require them to unstick the brakes.

    What a debacle...

Would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions

    All sounding really good!

Nice to see the different the combinations that are about.

The brakes are something I’ve considered upgrading also, I have better pads and discs which are a massive improvement. Do you have any recommendations for brake kits? Interested to hear what people’s opinions are on the setups they have. I assume this is kind of a necessary upgrade for efficient use on the track.

Stock brakes are quite good actually if you upgrade pads and brake fluid, but front BBK is a very popular mod - looks good and would allow you to stay on track for longer. I dont think BBK is really "needed" otherwise.

    Popular choices are:

    1. KSports - reasonably inexpensive (330 would be <1k, excluding pads), well made. You can have 330 and 356 versions.

I had my for over 2 yrs now, no problems whatsoever. After 15 track days disks developed slight lip (ok for daily driving, but vibrated under hard braking from over 80 mph if on track), so I bought new Ksports disks although Reylands has same size to fit Ksports kit for £80-90 cheaper.

I got my from Mike at Tuning Developments when I got N/A tune package done

    http://www.tuningdevelopments.uk/product_info.php?cPath=502_625_628&products_id=1389

    2. Reylands Motorsport  - very popular option, AP calipers + Reylands 330 disks + pads goes for <1.5k

Considering that it includes pads (DS 2500 for this set-up would be around £260-300 depending where you buy them) its a very good price. Note though that AP calipers are 4-pot CP 9200, and KSports are 6-pot - same as AP 9040 (not that it would be much of a difference to notice imo).

You can also get bigger disks, AP disks, different calipers - list of options on Raylands website (AP 9040 calipers with AP 356 disks are <2k which is very reasonable)

    http://www.reyland.co.uk/subaru-impreza/

    3. Stoptech - another popular option, more expensive that other 2

    https://fensport.co.uk/collections/toyota-gt86-2017-on/products/stoptech-front-brake-conversion-328mm-red-calipers-gt86-brz

There are more options out there (like Tarox), but I think above 3 probably more popular.

there are also plenty of threads on the forum on this topic

  8. Had my for nearly 3 yrs.

    Current mods:
    - Tuning Developments stage 1 turbo kit, intercooler, TD remap
    - K&N cone filter
    - MFactory 4.67 final drive
    - oil cooler, oil catch can, sump plate
    - autobox cooler
    - TD decat manifold, catback exhaust (super resonated)
    - Suspension: Tein Flex A, uprated droplinks, SPL LCAs, Cusco front strut brace
    - Brakes: KSport 356 BBK on front, braided brake lines, Ferodo DS2500 pads front and rear, motul brake fluid
    - Wheels: Rays Gramlight CR57 18x9.5 with MPS4 tyres
    - Focal speakers
    - Schroth Rallye 3 ASM belts (for track days)

    For 2020:
    - KSport rear BBK
    - minor suspension mods
    ... and more track days418e8c613c6cead9dfff12be141b1fd9.jpg

  9. I would go through nearly 2 full tanks on an average track day (I have TD stage 1 turbo kit on A/T car) if I use manual paddles.

I would be very happy if I could have 8-9 sessions on 1 tank.

On DD my AT averages mid 30s with turbo, on stock car I could get low 40s on good motorway drive.

  10. Church I know what you are saying but I’ve just been quoted £1250 for a set of 4 oem calipers by Toyota (I have a feeling the front ones may start with the same issue next).

Considering this is only for calipers, and doesn’t include pads, discs, fitting etc, wouldn’t it be more cost effective in the long run to upgrade to a bbk? As the price isn’t too dis similar from what Toyota have quoted me.

Again, if you have recommendations for street use this is much appreciated.
Thats way too much. If thats your starting point and cost benchmark, I would go BBK.

Or pick up 2nd hand OEMs.

  11. But they certainly look good.
Many of us (myself including) tracked stock car first, then changed front brakes for BBK and changed rear pads only.
I will change rears to BBK as well when my current pads are finished (probably by mid next year after 4-5 more track days), but it would be mainly for cosmetic reasons. a770745bfe4424cfe8d6b5276ee2caa7.jpgb557c450f27a706d0cd92e5ee23b1d81.jpg

  12. Same here, 2nd winter in a row. Standard battery is not very good.
Last time Toyota fiddled with alarm system (cost them more than new battery), will see how they try to weasel out this time.
Key is very poorly made, took me about 15 mins to unlock last time, I have a padded glove for this (should have made a proper key last time - lesson learned)

  13. Does anybody have any good places to buy from? Or is it just a case of shopping around and finding the best deal at the time?
Should've bought mine on Black Friday
    Shop around.

GSM performance usually has good price

Amazon has blue ones for under £90 if you dont mind the colour
