    Hello from Aberdeenshire

Hello Scotty, very nice - I like white. Love your top photo. We plan to go over to Belgium later this summer, always use the Eurotunnel. Not a road trip on your scale, but I do enjoy continental driving.
  2. Did anyone here hazard-flash me as I was coming off the M27 at around 8pm this evening? Sorry I didn't have the wherewithal to flash back before the opportunity had gone!

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

Only a complete idiot would do that to a Torx bolt. Question is: why did a previous owner take the seats out?

    Hello!

Hello and welcome! Not so far away in Basingstoke. The '86 looks nice in blue. I see so few '86s and BRZs that it's an event when I spot one.

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

It was bound to have setbacks, but even so the quality of the rebuild is impressive. Can you replace the water inlet manifold without taking the engine out?
  6. Keeping the 2nd cat would make a difference to sound level. I don't want to risk failing an MOT when it gets to it, too. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk
  7. So pleased to hear of another NA package success. The torque curve belies the improvement in real-world driving, which is excellent. It's always going to be a revvy engine rather than a torquey one, but now the flexibility to make serious progress is there and it makes all the difference. I'm still on the stock exhaust, which is fine for my needs. After having a very loud Honda, it seems quiet. I'd like a bit more UEL burble but I'll leave things be for the moment.

    Hi, another new owner !

Welcome, Mick. Learning to drive it well is a real treat.

    Intake Kit... Worth it?

I have the TD UEL header so I'll be looking at their turbo if I want significant gains in future.

    Intake Kit... Worth it?

Thanks. Mine is MY 2017 and I have the K&N panel filter and EcuTeK remap, so it doesn't look worth my while. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

    Intake Kit... Worth it?

Is anyone here using the Takeda? The reason I ask is that I had one on my CR-Z and was surprised at the additional torque I got, which you could really feel, and the considerable additional noise. The CR-Z version is built like a big horn at the front of the engine (see photo) so I doubt that the BRZ/GT86 version will be as loud. They are well made and I was impressed with mine, so I'm thinking about one even though I know the gains will be small.

    Pioneer SPH-DA120 Install and Review

I've got an Android phone, by the way, not Apple.

    Pioneer SPH-DA120 Install and Review

Nice installation guide, thanks. You may have inspired me to do something about the awful Starlink thing I have in my BRZ. It does have Bluetooth but the applications available are shit and I cannot get any Nav to work with it. At the moment, I'm happy using Radio Paradise and Spotify from my phone over Bluetooth, which works well. However, I still have to use the phone in its cradle to use Waze for sat-nav, and I'd love to have it working on the bigger screen with built-in sound.

    Servicing

Thanks, all. Time to book, looks like I'll hit 12 months and 10k at around the same time.

    Servicing

I am finding details on Subaru (and presumably Toyota) servicing very conflicting with some sources saying 6,000 miles and others saying 10,000 miles. It doesn't help that there is no service book and everything is recorded electronically. How can I find out if my 10 month old BRZ has ever been serviced? What is the correct interval?

    Got it!

    15mm Lower with Aero kit

Is the Aero lowered by springs? If so, you'll be looking for 35mm lowering springs from stock, which gives you a much better choice. Like the H&R Super Sport springs I have.

I recommend the TD NA package too, it's a great improvement. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

    Turbo charged 86 new platform

I had a great time adding a supercharger to my previous Honda CR-Z. It performed superbly and was a lot of fun to drive. I didn't take it near a track and didn't need to as superchargers are better for real-world performance gains which is why I chose it over a turbo. I doubt that I will take my BRZ on a track, although it may happen in the future. I may well consider going with the TD turbo kit one day, though. I also consider life to be a continuous learning process and always try to improve my driving, often taking the longer route off motorways to enjoy and learn more. The BRZ is a great car but it's one of the lowest power road vehicles I've had in the last 20 years. If I go FI one day, it'll be for real-world gains and more driving pleasure on the road.

    Measure boost

Yes careful, my previous Sprintex supercharger was not MAP sensor mapped and the OBD gave no boost measurement. Sent from my LG-Q6 using Tapatalk

There's also Scangauge II which is very configurable if you need data without the whizzy graphics. I find it invaluable.

    Our Cars in the Snow

Don't laugh, but after shovelling snow yesterday ready for this morning's commute, another load fell overnight! This stuff helped me just get enough traction to get off the drive and onto the lane. Useful to keep a can in the boot.
