    I don't own one yet...

Welcome to the club, I do miss my Clio 200 a bit and I too think the new 200 is a let down compared to the previous proper 200. Would have loved to keep the Clio but I couldn't afford keeping both but having the 86 as a track toy is a great plan!

    Car History

Ford KA - amazing little car that I owned for exactly a year before I gave it to my dad while taking his battered Fiesta to be chopped in as part of the scrappage scheme (£2000 for a really really really battered Fiesta, amazing) for.... Renault Clio Renaultsport 200 - an epic car, really got me into the love of handling rather than out right straight line speeds, owned this for 3 years. Could have easily kept the car but the only way to explain my move would be with a chinese saying.....I had an itchy ass and wanted a change, looked at 350z's but didn't bother because no joke, it didn't have keyless entry Almost put a deposit down for a Megane Renaultsport 265 with 4 years interest free.....until they turned around and changed the minimum deposit to 50%.....so I told them to do one, at which point I saw and brought.... Toyota GT86 - best car by far, still nothing really anything out there that I'd want without a massive pay rise, longest car I've kept thus far but at the same time, the only car I've ever really modified, enough to keep her for as long as I can.

    Gaming Thread

On a different game, anyone tried out the For Honor beta? I quite liked it, very rewarding and challenging to learn the characters and move sets. Haven't picked up the full game yet, want to finish off Assassin Creed first but uber keen!
  5. Sorry for the late response don't know what it's called but it was a perforated tube through an oval chamber stuffed with a load of grey fibre wadding stuffed in it. And Tom that does sound interesting, do like my gadgets, but would need to hear the sound more importantly. Sadly though some bad news, after a couple of days, the volume of the car has suddenly shot up. Not as loud as it was but noticeable but it does sound a bit weird now, sounds a bit clanky yet more Subaru burble like if that makes sense. Either it's blown all the wadding out or it's split somewhere, either way, will be going back to them to get it replaced and while it's there, just get a whole new catback instead, saves faffing around with repairing and mixing and matching, hopefully they can create something that meets my exact needs. Got it booked in next Thursday so the true test will be the very next day at Oulton Park.

    Watches in the GT86

Stumbled across this video and boy has it opened my eyes on the world of watches, these watches I can truly appreciate as they're not just watches with diamonds and jewels but proper weird and wonderful designs and feat of micro engineering. Also found it funny where he says that the LaFerrari watch was mega rare....just go to the Dubai mall, there was at least 4 in the windows that I saw alone
  7. So update, last Friday, I visited John Ashley Exhausts in Walsall to see what they could do in terms of quietening down the car. I was hoping they could modify the Berk HFC since it probably won't do much for me but sadly they said there really wasn't much room there to play with and most of the noise is due to the design and size of the back box. Not only that, but the resonated pipe itself could have been bigger, so that is what we did, we chopped out the resonated section of the mid pipe and welded in a slightly shorter but offset oval shaped silencer since there was a fair amount of space through the tunnel underneath the prop-shaft which ultimately meant more volume to dampen the sound down by. Good news, it work, it lowered the volume of the car considerably....bad news....maybe a lil too quiet I think it is currently slightly quieter than it was before the manifold which means I shouldn't have any issues now getting on track (will double check at the Midland meet in a couple of weeks hopefully)....then again I might have gone partially deaf so only the sound meter will tell But to be fair, it was similar to how I was when I went from non-res to resonated, I was saddened by the drop in noise, but when I went resonated, I eventually grew to love the sound that the car made then so I'm sure can get on with the sound/volume of it now. But it is a shame especially since it sounded so good, the pops and crackles (though it does still pop slightly but you can't always hear it), the loud barks when you blipped the throttle and most of all, the lift off from high revs....sounded soooo good. Now you tend to hear the engine and the manifold more than the exhaust itself which leads me to my main issue, the little sound the exhaust does actually make for some reason now rattles more, very raspy like which I'm not a fan of at all. This I don't really want to get used to so I may look into getting a new Cat back system at some point, I might even go back to John Ashley to see if they'd make a custom one to give better flow (they recommend Y pipes at the back with individual silencers rather than a big back box) while having it sound exactly how I'd like it to. Another part of me is a little disappointed that it's managed to quieten the car down so much as my back up plan was to turbo the car to help reduce the noise level....now I don't "need" to turbo it anymore

    My new car

Congrats and welcome to the club. What plans have you got for the car?

    Too smokey? Or normal?

Considering it's a high strung engine, it's guna run a lil hotter than most other cars, plus the bigger exhaust pipes mean more of it will pour out. So it's shouldn't really be, how much smoke your car gives off compared to other cars, it'll have to be compared to other sports cars with big exhausts etc.

    BRZ pearl white fender garnishes

I doubt anyone in the UK will have these in but try messaging some of the venders (Fensport, Abbey Motorsport, Tuning Developments, Amber Performance, Tarmac Sportz, Tuned UK etc.) and see if they are able to get any in for you. I know you aren't the only one interested in those side garnishes so might be worth mentioning when you enquire about them.

    Show season prep

Hopefully get my car repaired, need to start pushing for this to be done to be fair While it's getting repaired, have my valenti lower rear light fitted Swap wheels over Get my front Tow-hook mounted Other things that I might have done before then: Potentially get a new exhaust system (will update what's happened so far but not happy with the sound anymore) Probably million of other things I wanna get done but I've forgotten most of them but we'll see

Winter layover now can't open door.

Maybe the battery has gone flat so you can no longer open the door, it'll need a jump start but without unlocking the door, I'm not sure how to pop the bonnet but it is possible as a couple of people on here have experienced the same thing. Your dealer should know or be able to find out, either that or PM Rich @riceburner and he'll be able to help. Sent from my EDI-AL10 using Tapatalk

  20. There are various people with decatted manifolds who aren't having volume issues because of the rest of the exhaust system that they are using and I admit, it was a gamble for me as the Cobra is quite loud any ways but its all part of the journey. Even with the increase in volume, the noise it makes now, especially when you are flat out and even more so when you lift off sounds epic, its just the low down sound under load that is too much for me (especially when cruising on the motorway) and for track use. Not only that but the increase in torque at mid range is definitely worth the hassle. Sent from my EDI-AL10 using Tapatalk
  21. So to continue on from my last video of my new manifold, as you may know, I had a quick test with Jeff's sound meter and it's not looking good. No idea if we had placed the meter in the right place or not but I think I'm over the limit for most tracks and right on the limit for the couple of the more generous tracks in the UK. So while the sound meter was in-between the twin exhausts at roughly 1/2 a meter away and holding the revs at about 5500rpm, I was getting about 105dbs which again is right on the limit for some of the more generous tracks like Oulton Park (which I am booked in for on the 24th Feb). The car does get quieter once it gets going above 4/5000rpm but still not quiet enough....plus I even saw it peak at about 118dbs on the way up to 5500rpm (would the spike stop me from going on track?). Note that this is accordance to how MSV test their cars, we did do the usual test of just behind one tailpipe at 45deg but that still read about 103dbs. So next week, I've got my car booked in to John Ashley Exhausts in Walsall, no idea if they're any good but I've heard they've been around for a very long time so must be doing something right. Guna see what they can do, hopefully the can put together a heavily silenced front pipe to replace my Berk High Flow Cat which to be fair....probably isn't doing a lot and won't help pass an MOT so let's scrap it and see what we can fit in there instead.
  22. No one has mentioned this yet but besides tread, check the pressures too, make sure they're not over inflated.

    Squeaky brakes

Use then hard, I found that after a track day or some real abuse on the back roads, they quieten down for a few weeks. I also found they'd go quiet a bit after washing the car. Sent from my EDI-AL10 using Tapatalk
