I have water sealant already so would you say even despite already having it don’t bother applying it then? How long have you had your ones on without condensation?

    thanks by the way!

Mine have been on for 4 years with no issues, TBH I fitted them without knowing this info beforehand, so it might not be too critical.

  2. This subject has been covered a lot so I would recommend doing a search, but ultimately yes it makes a big difference as the car has next to none from the factory. The most effective areas for sound deadening are the rear quarters, rear seats and the doors, the boot is well isolated by the seat back rest so in my opinion its pointless putting any in there.

  3. I would suggest you do a bit of research into the second hand market before putting stuff up for sale. But put it this way you will struggle to pick up a single headlight for less than 170 quid from a GT86, which is much more common than a BRZ. OEM items are generally going to be much better quality and a different market segment than aftermarket.

If you are not sure on something then feel free to ask the forum members. This is the place where people are supposed to offer support, advice and respect for others who have a mutual interest in these cars...

Cosworth have stopped making their kit , so you will have to look for a used kit.

That's not entirely true.... I shall explain.

Had a little convo with Matt@Cosworth recently and he told me they do have supercharger kits, but they are missing the Eaton blowers themselves. Now if there was a group buy he said that it might enough to convince his boss to buy some superchargers to make up and sell some kits...

Food for thought for those on the fence.

  5. Sorry Shad can't help you with that one bud. I have an ancient Galaxy S7 so only have the option of tethered AA. I replaced the cigarette lighter socket with a second USB, I tuck my phone in there so it's not a big deal, means it gets charged too and I'm not tempted to touch it whilst driving.

I'm aware that the 919 does support AA wirelessly despite Kenwood oddly not advertising it, Fasmoto has proved that (and so does number 22. on your list by the looks of it)

I'm keen to see if my local Esso station does this. I usually stick to V-Power of Tesco Momentum 99 as the car is remapped. However, both these fuels contain ethanol - which is what makes the fuel pump noisy (crickets). Esso Super unleaded is 97RON but apparently has no ethanol, and gets rid of the crickets, so if they also start matching the RON rating of Shell/Tesco, happy days.

Ditto, not so much an issue in the winter for me but my crickets get bad in the warmer months. I would like to try the Esso as I'm sure it will quieten down.

  7. I just took a look on Kenwood's website the 820 has the same DSP. I think any unit of their units which has the "Hi-Res Audio" symbol means that it has the same DSP with all the features. Also I forgot to mention the DDX means it has a CD slot and the DMX doesn't. The Fasmoto site is a bit naughty you only get the HD screen on the 9 series model, not the 8. It is lovely, very clear and crisp but probably unnecessary. From what I figure out with the 820 you lose the CD slot, the HD screen and the wireless functionality (Carplay and wireless mirror imaging). Come to think of it I didn't need the 919 the 820 would have done everything I need.

As for taxes I asked them to review the value of the headunit before they sent it. 😉  All fees came to £60

  8. I have absolutely no idea why they aren't available here. It's odd. They are made for the RHD market too, hence the buttons on the right side. I bought mine from Fasmoto in Malaysia. They were great, delivery was quick i had the headunit in about a week. You could wait for the 21 model but what more would you want from your headunit? It's got everything covered. Only other thing to note is they don't support DVDs, wrong region, but I don't suppose that matters. Who is gonna play a film in an 86.

  9. I have the previous model year to the DDX920. the 919. Little info for you on the Kenwood units. Usually the last 2 numbers denotes the model year. First is the series number with 9 being their most premium. The DDX919 was significantly cheaper than the 920 as it was last year's model and doesn't have DAB so I went for that (also not fussed on DAB). Not used wireless AA yet I believe it's still being beta tested? It's fantastic. The built in DSP on the Kenwood unit is also very good. Once i swtup the crossovers and equalizer the sound out of my speakers is so much sharper and the bass is punchier.

Install is straightforward, the supplied harness will work out of the box but you will need an adaptor for the powered aerial and one to retain the USB (over priced so i DIYed my own) but that's it.

  10. I had one of the Chinese android units, it was alright but ultimately not as slick or as good quality as something from the big names so I swapped it out. You are gonna be hard pressed to meet all your requirements, you will have to compromise. You want a 200mm headunit to do away with the fascia trims but that narrows your choice significantly. I ended up with a Kenwood DDX9 series imported from Malaysia as they don't sell them in this part of the world. Its fantastic, but has no buttons and its pricey.

If I were to add the MTEC Springs & Shifter Bush to the N/A package, what kind of improvement do you see to the gear change?

Does it get rid the 'clunky' second gear?

Also do you have availability all through December or only certain days?

Makes a lovely difference to the gear change, you don't get bored of it. Can't say anything about knotchy second as my car doesn't suffer with that. Definitely worth it.

It's no biggie over ours but let's respect the fact that it keeps the concept going where we thought the model might be dead. With the latest government announcement about battery cars we have one more decade to buy this sort of car. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Amen to that. I plan to make the most of it all whilst i can!

  13. You can't go wrong with Team Dynamics wheels they have a good reputation. They have always been popular across the board in the UK and have been used in BTCC for years.

No doubt those wheels are a replica of the TRD wheel I think their name gives it a way. Definitely the cheaper option to get that style of wheel.
