  1. He is talking about the nut. He already mentioned his socket is nylon coated. The quality of your tools will have an influence, the socket needs to be snug with no play which will minimise marking. Can you not tape the non lockers? Or do they all have a ridge.

    Increasing max rev limit safely.

You'll get a few different answers tbh, saying that 7600RPM seems to be widely agreed upon as safe, in fact there are guys stateside testing upto 9000RPM with varied results. However on the standard car the power tails off over 7k RPM so not sure what benefit you are looking for. IMO there is no point in raising the rev limiter for the sake of liking RPM.

    FA20 Article

Think the editor is getting confused with his Nm and ft/lb! 200ft/lb of torque would be an impressive achievement but unfortunately he can't read properly.
  4. Thanks for the heads up Ian! Ive just ordered one, did actually want a higher spec model (C130) but for £50 its a no brainer!
  5. So if they've gone for a stiffer front and softer rear will this get rid of the cars natural inclination to oversteer? The fun part...

    Robs S/C GT86 Project

Rob, bit off topic mate but whats the offset of your Titans and what tyres are you using? Also am I right in saying you are dropped 25mm? I'm looking at some 17x9 weds and trying to gauge what they would look like. Cheers Matt

    Hello! From leeds castle meet

Thought I'd pop my head in and say hello! I met a few gents at the Leeds castle super car siege meet on Sunday down in Kent. Sorry I didn't catch anybodies names but Id like to say thanks to those who were there, especially for backing me up when trying to justify my new purchase to the girlfriend! haha. Shout out to the guy with the white TRD for some tips when I get mine, again didnt catch your name sorry. I'm expecting to take delivery of my car at the end of June, couldn't come sooner if im honest... Thanks, Matt

    Project MangoNo5

Welcome Chris! I think the TWS would be the best choice, they suit the car very well and as you know, are ridiculously light. The SSR's however would need quite aggressive fitment and stance to pull it off, i cant imagine you will have much of lip with the 8.5s either.

    James's GT86 Aero

Struggling to see the relationship with debadging and vauxhalls. Anyway, IMO I prefer removing off the badges on all my cars it cleans up the rear end

    Camber bolts?

Out of interest Lauren how much do you reckon on a road car? Zmithy im about to lower mine by 25mm and just have the front camber bolts. The camber will increase naturally on the car as it goes lower so I will use the camber bolts on the front to match whatever the rear settles too. If there is a noticeable difference between each side at the rear I will get the camber bushes.

    Side vent idea

Surely when he closes the bonnet the bonnet hinges will cover up where it's been cut? Just trying to figure it from the photo.
  16. Seeing as the latest cars are coming with blank boot lids is there anyone out there who would fancy swapping their blank un-spoilered boot lid for one with a spoiler? I have a 2 week old red GT86 with spoiler which i wouldn't mind swapping for a similar one without a spoiler. Worth a shot, PM me. Cheers, Matt

    Dropping 25mm?

Hi all, I have bought some Tein lowering springs for the 86, they will drop the car 25mm. The kit doesn't come with new bump stops, so is it recommended to shorten the existing bump stops at all? Or shall i leave them alone. Also the geometry will need to be reconfigured for the new ride height, is there enough adjustment in the standard set up to get it back to the stock settings? Thanks, Matt

One on order - new GT86 in GT86 Blue

Lets hope its true! If its anything to go by mine arrived at the dealers yesterday Finally! However I won't get mine until early next week as the dealer is fitting the JBL sound pack for me as a goodwill gesture for the month delay.

How many sets of wheels do you have?

I had 4 sets of wheels and 2 sets of tyres built up at one point (not for a GT86) but they take up so much damn space I couldn't keep them all for long. None were particular cheap wheels either, Works VS-XX, 3 piece BBS RS', SSR Viennas, and R34 skyline wheels.

Going back to the subject of registration, is your car not already registered then? I'm waiting on my car for the same reason as yourself but mine was already assigned registration, apparently they do this to save time?

Best Way To Run In New GT86...

I've done a bit of reading in anticipation of running in my car (whenever the damn thing gets here). Ultimately its all seems pretty inconclusive, there isn't much in the way of hard scientific evidence to suggest whats best. However from what I've read I'm now inclined to go for the hard lower rev approach, its makes sense to me that harder loads increase the pressure exerted on the piston rings helping them bed in better and quicker (this may be rubbish i dont know), however keeping the revs lower doesn't stress new components too hard during the break in, including clutch transmission etc. Laurens method seems sounds, I'm going with that kind of approach.
  22. Why buy new shoes if your other ones aren't worn out? Ask her that.
  23. Nice, they look good, suit the car well. Are you lowered at all?
