Murrsive 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2019 OK so this is my first post but im kinda panicking because I just purchased a exedy clutch kit with chromoly flywheel for my 13 scion frs. I have a recall on my car and its going to the dealership and they're pulling the engine to replace valve springs so I bought the clutch because they said they'd add the work on for an extra hour charge (pulling the engine is free already). Anyways I don't know if I did enough research, I understand the lighter flywheel will be better to drive but I'm only driving the car daily, am i going to need a remap? should i cancel the order and just order an exedy oem clutch kit and stick with the stock flywheel??? Im not broke but I am going to school so money is rationed around here give me all of your opinions whether I should stick with what I ordered or cancel. surrey86 352 Report post Posted January 20, 2019 Flywheel won't affect engine map. You should check the dealer will fit 3rd party parts, though.
nerdstrike 186 Report post Posted January 20, 2019 The flywheel will allow the engine to rev up and down faster, but it will also make it harder to crawl in traffic, as it will be easier to stall. At least you're not fitting a drag clutch. Those are laughably bad on the street. The ECU does not care how much mass your transmission has.
