long-gone 152 Report post Posted July 28, 2016 I don't suppose anyone can confirm it's a (relatively) simple matter of switching a cable or two to switch the tail and brake lights on these?

long-gone 152 Report post Posted July 29, 2016 Trial and error ain't working. I'm too thick and don't have the patience. If anyone could tell me the correct pin outs it'd be much appreciated. Virtual internet beers to anyone who can help. 1 rob275 reacted to this
Dan7954 35 Report post Posted July 29, 2016 Could be worth while asking on the US forums for a pic/info of stock arrangement of their connector, then you can copy it?
long-gone 152 Report post Posted July 29, 2016 Yep. Posted over there too.
rob275 1817 Report post Posted July 29, 2016 Sorry I wish i could help but i'm just as clueless as you, perhaps a japanese contact is what you need to ask the manufacturer
Tom B 44 Report post Posted August 2, 2016 Is the problem the Tail lights come on when the brake pedal is pressed, and brake lights come on when tail lights are switched on?
long-gone 152 Report post Posted August 2, 2016 Yep, that sounds about right.
Tom B 44 Report post Posted August 2, 2016 I'm not certain (but by the looks of it no one else is!) that if you can get your hands on a multimeter and check for voltage on the cars plug and determine which cable is for brakes, lights, indicators, then you'd just have to trace the ones in the tail light and match them up!.... Not sure if that's any help to you but I'll buy them off you for a fiver if you can't get them to work
long-gone 152 Report post Posted August 2, 2016 Heh. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. As there are three functions; tail light, brake light and indiwinker and four pins - am I right to assume one is earth so will remain in the same place and then juggle the other three until I get it right? How do I determine which is earth?
Tom B 44 Report post Posted August 2, 2016 Assuming they're not using a mounting screw as 0v, then yeah that's how I'd imagine they're wired. Check the plug for a tiny marking that may give away which is 0v. A cheapo multimeter will help you out a lot. Otherwise you could just keep swapping them about - Have some spare fuses at the ready tho!
Tareim 343 Report post Posted August 3, 2016 black would normally be ground but there is 2 in this case so I wouldn't be too sure on that, are the colours the same on the other end of the plug (still in the car) as I've never taken a look so wouldn't know
long-gone 152 Report post Posted August 3, 2016 Sorry, my photos may be misleading. On the thread linked above it recommends doing the car side. It's the plug on the car wiring I'm fiddling with which is why I don't want to keep trying trial and error as I may knacker it for OEM lights too. The socket on the light unit is fixed and more awkward to change.

long-gone 152 Report post Posted August 3, 2016 For the record, it's simply switch the white and red pins in light unit. Just realized I'll have to swap the buggers back in a few weeks for MOT.
Mike 458 Report post Posted August 3, 2016 Why would you need to swap them for an MOT?
