Introduction to CGR Automotive

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just a quick post to introduce ourselves! We’re CGR Automotive and we think of ourselves as a “one stop shop” for your performance tuning needs.

We're based in Hellaby near Rotherham South Yorkshire, Just off the M18 between the A1 and M1.

We design and manufacture a huge range of parts and products, from batch production to custom pieces. Our history has been mainly to cater for the motorsport market and high-end sports cars.

Although we specialise in exhaust systems, we can manufacture intercoolers, radiators, suspension components, roll cages, pretty much anything! We also have a dyno and offer standalone ECU tuning alongside OEM remapping too.

By using extensive CAD design and Laser Scanning in-house, we CAD model all our products up first to ensure a perfect design and fit every time.

We'll be posting up some separate threads on various bits and bobs we're working on, dyno days, and looking for some cars to help with our development work, so keep your eyes peeled!

Cheers :)

Welcome to the club, looking forward to seeing what you do with your BRZ and what products you come up with.  Also, very cool seeing you use the Nikon scanner to scan and design parts with, what softwares do you use?

Roll cages you say. Would that also include bolt in half cage with harness mounting? If so, we could maybe talk some business.

We normally only do full cages as TIG welded cages are more expensive to produce than MIG welded ones and generally it's only the motorsport market that can justify the difference, however if you're after a high-quality cage it's definitely something we could look at.

We use Inventor for smaller less intricate parts and for Machining routines as it's perfect for simple parts, and the laser scanning guys use Nikon focus software as well as Geomagic Design X which is probably the best CAD software around and allows reference to the mesh data provided by the scanning equipment. I believe you can scan straight into Geomagic without having to use the Nikon software too making it particularly efficient for the big files such as underfloors and engine bays :)

Awesome stuff, and yes I'm pretty sure you can scan directly into Geomagics with the Nikon system but I wouldn't say it's the best out there ;) (I work for a company that sells, trains, supports and uses a competitor software to Geomagics called PolyWorks).  Like most proprietary softwares out there, they are never as good as a specialist software like Geomagics and PolyWorks.  You and your scanning guys might find some of my 86 inspired scan projects interesting:

Let me know if you ever want a demo of PolyWorks, any excuse to pop round to see your setup and your work :P
