Guest Report post Posted November 1, 2015 So, it turns out I was correct then, (said smugly with a smirk on ones face).Whoever repaired that needs an education on how to use sealant!! Looks like they rubbed half the sealant off onto the RH cam gears when they put the front cover back on!! No wonder it leaked!!
Lauren 2259 Report post Posted November 1, 2015 That turned into a big job Steve! Still at least it will be done properly now. Bit of a game having to take the engine out though. 1 Gringosteve reacted to this
Guest Report post Posted November 1, 2015 That turned into a big job Steve! Still at least it will be done properly now. Bit of a game having to take the engine out though.Actually Lauren, Subaru have made a very nice job of simplifying the engine removal in these cars. Compared to some, it is a real doddle. The worse part is removing all the panels underneath, after that it's really straightforward.Having said that, it is nearly impossible to do any maintenance with the engine in, such as valve clearances. A simple job like a leaky Cam cover would be a right PITA with the engine in.
Gringosteve 213 Report post Posted November 1, 2015 Having been under the engine to look for the leak I agree it is a very tight fit, struggled to see much, working around the lump looked impossible.Looks like your spider senses are good Nigel

Guest Report post Posted November 1, 2015 It is a wide low engine. When you build one it's quite astounding how it grows and grows.
