AJ124 118 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 I am about to get myself a uel manifold and wanted peoples opinion on if it would be worth having it ceramic coated or wrapped, little cautious regarding a wrap as they have been know to cause problems. Or in the UK maybe doing a few trackdays a year and maybe the tss at some point do I need to bother? Those of you that have aftermarket manifolds, have you any heat protection? Thanks in advance. Kodename47 446 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 On an N/A car it's probably not an issue. The bay isn't particularly good at losing heat though it seems, so it may not be ideal long term. There is a reason the OEM has a heat shield and it's not just due to the sump. Elecrical components are very susceptible to heat and the intake is also above where the runners cross the bay. Zircotec do a flexible ceramic material you could use as a replacement heat shield.
Sonic 4 Report post Posted September 9, 2015 go ceramic coat every time, the reduction in engine bay temps is well worth it for reliability and keeping the air intake temps down, plus wrap has to be done carefully not to create any air pockets as this then superheats and melts holes in the exhaust
