Tweedbean 151 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Having a few issues with mine, the Allen key hole is rounded, is there a flat spot on the rear that I could get a spanner on to stop the thread spinning so I can then undo the nut? Thanks
Guest Report post Posted May 15, 2015 From my experience you are up shits creek without a paddle. You could try hammering in a tight torx bit after giving the nut a good soak in penetrating oil.
Tweedbean 151 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Yeah no flat spot on the back, I got the other side off to have a look. Going to see if I can get hold of a set this afternoon from somewhere.
GT86Jay 202 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 I ended up having to cut mine off. Luckily I had new ones.
Foulsmell 120 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Not seen the nut but I've used these in the past on a wheel nut and worked first go. http://m.screwfix.com/p/irwin-bolt-grip-nut-remover-set-5-pieces/96028
Tweedbean 151 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Does anyone in the Midlands have a set I can purchase today? Tried all the local dealerships and they don't have any. Going to try some motor factors now just in case. Otherwise japfest is a no go as the car is up in the air with no drop links
Tweedbean 151 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Also have I imagined this or can you drive with the front anti roll bar disconnected? This may be totally incorrect but I have it in the back of my head.
smudge 1020 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 I assume you're changing the suspension? If so, just take them off still attached to the strut, only way I could do mine If you're not changing the suspension, only really option is to cut them. The hole for the hex bit/allan keyis really soft and so easy to round
smudge 1020 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 ARB isn't necessary for driving. I just wouldn't be throwing it round corners if I were you
Tweedbean 151 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 I'm fitting tein coilovers, I have everything off the car now, I just can't put the drop links back in as I can't tighten them. I have some on order for tomorrow at my local dealership. Do we think I will be ok to just leave them off and just drive without them tomorrow to japfest and back then fit new ones Sunday? Do I just leave the anti roll bar in place as I really don't fancy trying to remove that as well.
smudge 1020 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Yeah just remove the suspension with the drop links attached and leave the ARB in place. It won't go anywhere and you are fine to drive, just don't go mad although the Teins will make it all feel stiffer anyway 1 Tweedbean reacted to this
STEVO9000 54 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Got an impact gun? Or anyone you can borrow one from? Should take that nut right off
Tweedbean 151 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 I may make jap fest after all, right time to get the wheels back in and get the rears done.
