Captain Duff 79 Report post Posted October 2, 2013 I know this sounds like a daft question, but I always get really confused by some american car terminology. I think I'm right in thinking that 'shop' in a car sense is short for workshop, and the equivilent of the UK use of 'garage'? But then they also use the term garage don't they? Are the two interchangable or do they mean slightly different things?!
rob275 1817 Report post Posted October 2, 2013 i think they only use the term garage as in where we would use the term garage for storing cars at home etc. Or would they call it a Lockup? Lawd knows. where the americans at!
Quixote 35 Report post Posted October 2, 2013 You're right on shop...Garage is for storing cars...Bonnet = hat, Hood = bonnet...Boot = kind of shoe, Trunk = boot...Windshield = Windscreenblower = s/clube = oil and it can be changed in a jiffy ;)e-brake = handbrakerotor = brake discand apparently a 5.7 litre (350ci) engine is still a small-block! Jonesy_135 11 Report post Posted October 2, 2013 yeah 5.7 litres is small when you can only squeeze 42bhp out of it!
