  1. We have been working on an "affordable" track focused setup for the GT86 platform, and it is here... MeisterR ClubRace Coilovers. This is our first production batch so I want to get some opinion on what members think and if it is something you want MeisterR to continue offering. The ClubRace has 8kg/mm front and rear springs. A new extended rear top mount ensure correct ride height adjustment as well as plenty compression travel. Dampers are adjustable mono-tube damper with valving paired to the springs rate. Critical damping is right at the top and most driver will be within the top 5 clicks on track. These are design for performance using high grip tires such as Toyo R888 / Advan A048 / etc. Let me know what you think, let me know any questions you may have. I want to hear what the community think on "budget friendly" track setup such as the ClubRace. Jerrick
  2. With 8kg/mm front and rear springs, it isn't going to be soft. Compare to the ZetaCRD+ 5kg/mm front and rear springs, it is going to be stiffer over small imperfection. But an advantage of the 8kg/mm springs along with the extended top hat is that you get more compression travel. This keep the rear suspension from bottoming out (something that happen even with OEM suspension), and can actually lead to a better ride. So how comfortable they will be will greatly depend on the road surfaces as well as driver tolerance. Even the 5kg/mm ZetaCRD setup have prove to work well on track. The ClubRace 8kg/mm are designed reduce body motion and make use to sticky compound tyres such as Toyo R888 / Nankang AR1 / etc. Specifically on the GT86 chassis, not that much yet. As I have said, this is the first production batch of the ClubRace. The ClubRace is basically the ZetaCRD+ with the specification push up (both springs rate and damper valving) in order to take advantage of sticker tyre compound. So while the ClubRace specs have not had a lot of feedback, the ZetaCRD+ is a tried and tested setup. Jerrick
  3. The ClubRace for the GT86 is £899 delivered. Jerrick
  4. Thank you for everyone's support. The result have been great and we raised $2,457 at the time of drawing. About $1,500 from USA, and the remaining $950 or so from UK / Europe. 5. The team at MeisterR offer their deepest condolences to all people affected by Hurricane Harvey. With many people killed and more than 200,000 people left homeless, the Salvation Army are doing all they can to support victims of flooding caused by America’s heaviest rainfall on record. Right now, Salvation Army staff and volunteers are working 24/7 to help communities that have been torn apart by the storm. However, they desperately need funds to help them offer the best support that they can to the hundreds of thousands of people affected. The motoring community is a tight-knit one, and we pride ourselves in helping others in their time of need. MeisterR have created a fundraising page to support the Salvation Army. Please donate what you can: $5, $10, or $50 can help save lives. Donate Here: https://www.gofundme.com/meisterR We will give away a free set of MeisterR ZetaCRD / ZetaCRD+ coilovers to a random donator on September 22, 2017. So share the news, donate and support, plus a chance for a free set of coilovers, WIN WIN. Jerrick
  6. Last day everyone. We have collected over $2,100 so quite a sum. I will be doing a Facebook live to pick out the winners this Saturday at 6:00pm UK time. Jerrick

    Affordable Track Focused Coilovers Concerns?

It will depends of course alot on what the driver want as well as how much they want to spend. I am looking at a basic "track focused" setup, and that mean wheel frequency around the 2.5Hz as that will work well with semi-slick type tyre compound. For those that are much deeper into the performance range, then they will not want an "affordable" solution but the correct solution. That mean proper vehicle dynamic calculation base on the car corner weight, as well as tyre compound, driver experience, etc. In certain cases you can run a single rate, but more likely to run a dual progressive rate tender springs setup depending on what sort of springs rate are required to achieve the wheel frequency desired. On car like that you will want to have one rate at static motion and a much higher rate at 1G load. It is a completely different ball game for cars that are more serious and running aero. Jerrick
  9. We at MeisterR are always listening to customers feedback and working on new ideas. A very common request we get are Affordable "Track Focused" Suspension. These will be suspension are are design for track performance and generally use sticky compound / semi-slick tyres. The springs rate are on the high side and road compliancy will be compromised for better weight transfer control during track use. Our aim will be have a setup under £1,000. That is where we want to set our bar. Of course, some setup will be cheaper and other a bit more expensive depending on what is required to make the best setup possible. Some setup will need helper springs in order to achieve enough droop travel due to high springs rate, etc. I want to know what are some concerns potential customers will have? What are some questions you may have? Let me know and I want to hear opinion of current track car drivers and concerns of potential future customers. Jerrick

    Affordable Track Focused Coilovers Concerns?

Interesting, quite a few point to look at. I am looking at stiffer springs rate, and most importantly is giving that rear end the compression travel it need. I do like that mount hole insert. For me it is about getting the right springs rate in and the right damper valving so you have compression force to "work" those sticky tyres. The only thing I cannot do is the front springs HAVE to use some type of barrel / mini block springs due to space available. Otherwise you will either run out of ride height adjustment, or have to reduce compression travel by a huge amount in order to avoid spring coil binding. All great suggestion, thanks for chiming in. Jerrick
  11. We have achieved $1500 from over 100 donators in 12 days. While this fund raiser was setup to help my local community in Houston, many unfortunate have also been affected by Hurricane Irma in the Florida region. The Salvation Army are already providing aid the Florida region, and have deploy their mobile kitchen from as far north as New Jersey to provide additional aid to Florida. I just want to say thank you to the many donators, and I hope to raise additional fund to hit our goals in 10 more days. We will select an random winner on the 22nd of September to receive a free set of MeisterR coilovers. Jerrick
  12. Just an update. We have achieved over $600 in just two days, so thank you very much for any donation. Please keep sharing, and lets beat the $5000 goal. Jerrick
  13. MeisterR made a lot of changes in 2016, and I am sure many of our members have done a lot to their car also. We want to get some fresh update for 2017, and we want to see what members have to say about their MeisterR coilovers. We would like some pictures (with a MeisterR sticker preferred ) for our gallery and reviews of the coilovers from members who have used them, both new and old. It would also be easier to have everything under a single thread to aid members doing their own research. So if you have pictures of your car on MeisterR coilovers, please post them and write a short review of what you think of them. 1. Name: (If you want to provide it) 2. Location: (Town or County) 3. Car Make / Model / Specific Info: (Trim / Packages / Other Mods) 4. MeisterR Coilovers Model: (ZetaCRD, ZetaCRD+, GT1 etc) 5. Short Review: a. Performance on Road: b. Performance on Track: c. Value for Money: d. Would you buy again: e. Any Personal Note: 6. Pictures: Please attach any pictures you have of your car that you want to show the world. 7. Video: If you have any video of your car in action on YouTube / Vimeo, please attach link to video. Thank you for everyone's help and I look froward to some pictures and reviews. As usual, we are available if you have any questions; just drop us a PM of there are anything we can help. MeisterR do appreciate everyone's help, and thank you for member's continue support. 14. A video of the final run that got us our 3rd place finish. Took 3rd place by 0.064 seconds, it was very close racing. https://youtu.be/1DWypS8wtlE Hope you guys enjoy watching the run. Jerrick
  15. So the past weekend we attended our first National Auto-Solo event. The 2017 Tire Rack College Station Championship Tour, and it was certainly an experience. https://www.scca.com/articles/2005718-2017-tire-rack-college-station-championship-tour-event-recap Our team went into the competition feeling pretty confident, until we went to the grid and check out the competition's cars. The top runners are using the Honda S2000 Club Racer edition, that is a limited run of 699 cars designed with aero package and soft top removed to reduce weight. Only the CR are allow to run without the soft top, as the class rules state what came on the car in factory trim must stay; and looking at their engine bay you can see how well their cars were prepared. Most are using the PasswordJDM carbon fibre intake, and a few cars was running Moton Clubsport 2-way adjustable coilovers; that is only what you can see. In contrasts, we have a pretty standard 2007 Honda S2000 with 90,000 miles on the clock. The only mods were a K&N intake, Invidia exhaust, Eibach front anti-roll bar, and MeisterR ZetaCRD coilovers in our prototype race specification. Even our ECU was standard and unmapped... so you can imagine how our confidence drop "slightly " after seeing what we were up against. Most were using the same tyres, the new BFGoodridge Rival S... so that mean we were on even ground at least on that part. But never mind, this is our 1st national event so it was just to see where we sit outside of the Houston region. The STR Class we are competing in have a total of 17 drivers, many are experienced veteran at national event. Our driver is 21 years old Landon Thompson (who is getting a lot of stick up and down the grid because of his age), but it was all good fun. Overall, the competition was great and environment was friendly; but you know it is a competition and people are serious and there to win when you speak with a few. So at the end of the two day race, we end up just edging out for a 3rd place trophy finish out of 17 drivers. Considering how under prepared our car was and it’s our first national attempt, we were all very happy about the result. So that is it from MeisterR's team and our first national event, we came home with a blue cap (trophy winner) and a big meal at the end of the day. We will continue to improve the car to bring it to a more competitive trim, and can only hope or better result in the next event. It was a great weekend, just want to share our excitement and our result. Jerrick

    Suspension

With suspension, it is very difficult to "measure" performance because it is only one part of a working system. The driver, the suspension, the anti-roll bar, the tyres, the track / road surfaces, all combine and work together. This is how "vehicle dynamics" are calculated, and in a way it is different for everyone. There are some constant variable such as heat fade resistant and durability. There are some suspension that are design incorrectly such as having way too much damping force for the springs rate. But to really understand how everything works, one really need some basic understanding of vehicle dynamics, not just how a damper work. If you look online, alot of people post up a "force vs. velocity" dyno, and use that to "gauge" how good a damper is. From where I am sitting, if I get shown a "force vs velocity" dyno, I wouldn't actually know what show because it doesn't actually show "how" the damping force is generated. The main thing to remember is that suspension need to fit the driver's need. An expensive 3-way race suspension will get out performed by a budget 1-way coilovers if this is for a daily fast road car. Higher price don't always mean better suspension, and more adjustment just mean more to go wrong if driver do not know how to set it up. Jerrick

  24. A short video from MeisterR sponsored driver Michael Marshall (2013 British Drift Championship Champion) We ask him to explain how the MeisterR coilovers adjustments works in a simple and easy to understand way. A few shots of how the MeisterR GT1 are build, as well as his latest BMW E92 M3 drift car in action included. We hope this will be useful information for everyone. Enjoy… Jerrick
  25. Those who have watch this will know that this video was just a bit of a light hearted joke. However, it seems there might be some genuine interests in this topics. So if you guys want me to make an actual technical article on suspension adjustments, let me know and I'll pull something together. It will be longer than a minute and probably be a lot more boring. But if you are interested let me know. Jerrick
