    Alignment

I was also surprised at the effect of added tension on the drop links had, even with the stock ARB.

    Alignment

IMHO you set the car up to suit how you drive, my settings were somewhat not liked on here but the car sticks like s to b and has no understeer. So I guess take an average of what's on offer from members experiences and give it a go.

    Trip to Scotland

This one seemed to rather like the orange car, OH nearly had it on her lap. Did a good round trip on the Isle Of Skye with all the usual touristy stuff. On the way to our overnight at Loch Ness we found some serious roads, shall we say I got the Debs attention very quickly. Pushed pretty hard and cannot induce understeer which is pretty impressive on the tyres behalf. So far the 86 has been very good and inspires confidence, guess some lap times on a circuit where I have bench marks must be done soon. Monster spotting tomorrow so who knows........ Kev

    Trip to Scotland

Thought I would bore you all with the 86's progress on my week heading north, did about 300 miles today and staying in Kendal tonight. 60% of the driving was in very heavy rain and lots of standing water and I must say the Nankang NS 2R's were brilliant in the wet, at all speeds there was never a clenching moment. The dry performance is not far off the 888's which I have done lots of driving on, but the wet is much better. Ride on the coilovers has been comfortable and not a problem so far, Fort William tomorrow so will get some car pictures. Kev

A chance to stretch our legs at Glen Coe, one of the only bits of dry tarmac today.

    suspension settings

We will see, camber and inner tyre wear is drastically affected by toe settings. It's about how the car feels, not worried about getting 10kout of a set of tyres.

  8. Got a couple of shots now the ride height is near where I want it. Now the wheels look much better, thanks to Ben at Rarerims for sorting them. Kev
  9. Last week I noticed the nearside headlamp had broken up, the reflector part had broken into several bits. There is no external marks at all. This was several days before fitting my coilovers, the Basingstoke dealer was phoned straight away and they ordered a new headlamp assembly in to be fitted under warranty. My OH went to the dealership today for fitting of headlamp, to be told as you have modified the car it is not covered. The coilovers were fitted only yesterday with date stamped pictures and a post on this forum, but they still insist it is because of the modification even when it was not on the car when the fault occured. They have now passed it to Toyota Europe for a verdict. Following that conversation my OH was told as the car is now modified the warranty is completely void, so my confidence in Toyota has completely gone. Opinions welcome Kev

    Dealership / Toyota Moan

Toyota came back today and have agreed to replace the headlamp under warranty, however they have excluded them going forward because I have coilovers.
  11. For the first set up I have tried to match things to my driving style, I do like to exploit lots of grip and don't mind things getting a little heavier on the front end. Front is -2.3° camber with parallel toe and rear -2.0° camber with 0.5° toe in. Will do some hard driving on my private test track ;-) and check tyre temps cross the whole tyre surface.
  12. This is one thing you have to get done after suspension mods. The drive back was rather better, thanks to Motorworx in Marlow Bucks.

    Fitting Coilovers

Well first test of feeling for the suspension today, I drove the 86 on some small b roads to where I keep my horse. The road is bumpy and twisty with some undulations etc.. the ride is not hard or crashy, best description would be firm but not bouncy. Alignment is being done early this week and the acid test will be in 7 days when we are driving to and touring Scotland, should be varying roads and conditions for both coilover and tyre reviews.

    Fitting Coilovers

Started the fit complete with new lower arms and toe rod arms for total adjustment, been off the spanners for a while so probably wreck my nail polish lol Will post some pictures later Kev

    Fitting Coilovers

All on the floor in a single garage, needed help a few times but the the OH popped in and lent over me to hold bolts now and then ( also distracting ) The worst bit by far is undoing the front drop links, go tight loose back and forward all the way to the end, this stops you getting into trouble. Very pleased with the Meister Coilovers for fit etc....

    Fitting Coilovers

Smudge the lower control arms and adjustable toe rods are from Japspeed, arrived promptly and good quality. Lauren after conversations with the guys at Meister ( who it turns out I know ) I decided on 6 and 6 with the choice of swapping with no issues at all. The ride is very good, with the dampers on minimum setting it's pretty much stock and you dial it up from there. Very impressed so far but will give feedback as time goes on. Kev

No they just said as the light was unmarked externally it would be covered under warranty, the other thing I asked to be checked was the airbag light in orange ( lower central display ) stays on. They say it never goes out and lets you know the airbag is activated ?

Job done, fitted complete with the lower control arms and adjustable toe rods. Will be on the alignment rig early next week, be good to hear any set up numbers from you guys. Kev

Been on a trip to my folks today in the Isle of Wight, lots of miles and not another 86. How nice

    Hello Everybody

Thought I would say hi on this forum, my OH has recently bought a GT86 and I'm gently changing bits and bobs. First picture one other

    Hello Everybody

Coil overs now arrived, so looks like the weekend job is lined up. Hope the control arms come today and then I can do it all together. Will put up some pictures of the progress.

    Tyres and Wheels

Might be a good idea to drive cars with different setups if you can, I have gone up in wheel/tyre weight and am putting coilovers on next week. But I prefer high levels of grip over the more nimble setup,. Just down to personal preference in the end. Also had a tyre delivered today for the OEM rims, keep them nice and ready should they need to go back on.

    Hello Everybody

I too was interested in the build location of Meister, I found some very interesting information on the technical build tolerances and internal damper components. Was a long read and probably too big to post on here, but it was enough to not dismiss them. I remember being told not to get near D2 stuff when I was competing in TA, but set up and mechanical sympathy play a big part and we had some very surprising results. Will let you folks know the outcome both good or bad ;-)

    Tyres and Wheels

I have done a few hard miles on sticky tyres and stock suspension while waiting on coilovers, as Lauren says it gets out of balance withthe extra grip. I think there is a fine line between grip and suspension bei g in harmony.

    Hello Everybody

I had a varied selection of suspension on my TA race Evo, varying fron D2, Ohlins and an Ex-tc race set. Am currently looking at Meisterr given the build design and some feedback from some of my friends in motorsport. I know what you mean about spring rates on different systems, and it's good where possible to set up for your own particular driving style. Must say the members on here seem really friendly !
