Hey @Jay Bamrah sorry didn’t see your message until after I had booked my wheels for a refurb and painting (Gloss Black) Took the car in this morning and the guys did a great job to turn it around in less than 6 hours at a very reasonable price This is how they look now 😍

    FB and rival Club Stands

All valid points @Lauren … I am newbie but there seems to be some breakdown in communication between the various groups (I am assuming a lot of us end up being members across these groups) It will be a shame to see the GT86/BRZ community split at Japfest considering we would like to make our presence felt in numbers While there is clearly a need for the admins across these groups to have that chat, is it possible to speak with the Japfest organisers to get the GT86 DC / GT86 OC / Cult 86 club stands together for this event. we can surely try and not repeat such a scenarios for future events

Sure … I am trying to get the car checked in early next month so will look forward to see your wheels Re the 18” wheels it will really depend on what the budget allows as need to start saving aggressively. Top of the wish list are the likes of Rays / Enkei / Oz, but could settle in on some Japan Racing / Sparco / XXRs - looking to go slightly wider as well so maybe 18x9.5 with new PS4 all around 🤞

Thanks … this is very useful… good luck with refurb. I am planning to upgrade to 18” next year so didn’t want to spend a lot on the stock wheels (other than getting them painted) we can always exchanges pictures once the wheels are painted

@Jay Bamrah Oh sorry … I thought the alloys but it is a good suggestions - would be looking to change the brake discs and pads at some point so hopefully that will get rid of these rusty ones I haven’t booked my alloys in yet as I am trying to spare a day from work as the garage I spoke to are based in Milton Keynes - likely to be after you get urs done if you don’t mind me asking - u getting it done locally and how much have u been quoted? I have asked a few places and quotes are anywhere between £160 to £340

Thanks @Jay Bamrah you read my mind. Next on my list to do … found someone in Milton Keynes who is quoting to refurb and paint my wheels gloss black for a very reasonable price … they are only open weekdays so trying to spare a day from work later this month Also have a back order for the Cobra Resonated Catback Exhaust with Amber Performance so waiting to hear from them in a few weeks so that I can get them fitted in … can’t wait 😍

No BBK yet but a little red colour brought the stock brake callipers to life over the weekend … very pleased with the outcome
  8. Hi all ... I am planning my first performance mods and have been researching cat back exhausts ... I have shortlisted Cobra Sport and Invidia N1. While I prefer the sound of the resonated exhausts (louder than stock but not too loud), but wanted to check with this group as to whether there is any other benefits going for a non resonated. Also between Cobra and Invidia, is one better than the other? I did think about TD resonated but it is a 6 hour round trip so having to settle for Cobra or Invidia. Should I be considering any other performance exhausts out there? Thanks

Thanks @JohnM and @TimS ... I guess Invidia N1 is definitely off the list given the feedback as I live in a quiet neighbourhood and don’t really want to add to the pain I already have with a ‘neighbour’. I am leaning toward the Cobra Resonated but will compare the other suggestions by @BRZ-123 I am always nervous about have a go at fitting it myself but have been quoted around £70 for installation plus the cost of the exhausts so tempted to get it done professionally

Thanks @BRZ-123 this is really useful ... I wasn’t aware of the others you mentioned so will check out how they sound there are quite a few out there hence the confusion but I guess it will come down to personal preferences

Happy New Year all .. not sure why I waited until the new year for my first post. Since joining the forum in August, I have been following most the discussions threads for some great insights. I am Mani and live in Ealing, West London. After many years trying to convince the missus that we need a second car and then months for searching, I managed to get hold of a black 14 plate GT86 in August. Although I have only done 1k miles due to lockdowns, I am loving the decision to buy the 86 - since I have been interested in one since its launch. I am still learning but hoping that I can get a mini project going once I am used to the car, plans being: (Cosmetic) - keen to replacing the front and rear lights with smoked ones and add some decals (Wheels & Suspension) - would like to upgrade to 18 inch wheels (with PS4s) and coil overs (Exhausts & Body Kits) - replace stock exhausts and try and get hold of a wide body kit (Turbo or super charger) Happy for any suggestions or advice if there is any particular order that would make sense. I would love to join in for track days at some point this year (anywhere within couple of hours drive from west london), but being a novice not sure if one can do track days with a stock set up or track day etiquettes. That is all for now. Looking forward to catching up and interacting on the forum.

GT86 ownership - Month 8 Update Whilst the initial months have been under lockdown, I have managed a couple of thousand miles of local driving - loving it. Since I wanted to start small in terms of the customisations, I have gone with mostly cosmetic Replaced the air filter from stock to K&N Replaced all internal light (leds) and door lights (the GT86 shadow lights) Replaced all external lights to VLAND smoked ones Got all windows tinted Next up is some decals - not sure if I should add them as I am really liking the all black look at the moment so might hold off for a few months.
  14. Hey Carcar Saw a 2016 plate (Black) advertised recently on the UK GT86 / BRZ cars and parts for sale page for about 13k (location is Bicester so guess it is close to you) might be worth checking it out - link to the FB page below https://www.facebook.com/groups/1581880765452137/?ref=share Good Luck

    Thespeedline valenti taillights

@Jay Bamrah the transformation to the smoked ones looks great (as compared to the stock taillights) ... did you manage to do it yourself or did you get help? How long did it take to make the switch - I am tempted to get help from a garage but if it is pretty straightforward then will have a go myself - once I place the orders

    Thespeedline valenti taillights

@Jay Bamrah Thanks for sharing the details and pics of your purchase .. I have been contemplating smoked headlights and taillights for my GT86 and am considering a few so this information is very timely can I ask if there was any particular reason for importing the Valenti ones as compared to those available locally ... I found some VLAND smoked headlights and taillights which can be delivered in a couple of weeks.

Thanks @will300 ... there are still so many questions I have regarding mods so will definitely take some time and sensible advice before I jump the gun ... will stick with cosmetic initially Appreciate the word of caution regarding tires and brake pads - mine looks a bit worn but will get them checked out soon.

Thanks @Kaltorak loving the car. It would be great to catch up at some point - I had close friends in Feltham who have now moved to Ashford but u are not too far off from Ealing Shame regarding the recent national lockdown announcement - a death kneel to any planned track days over the next 6 weeks I guess. Will have to look forward to some tracks days later in the year ... Bedford seems to be most recommended for a track day novice 🙂

Thanks @Luke ... I am hoping the car is in good mechanical condition considering I bought it from a Toyota dealership but will make sure closer to time. would love to come along to any meets and show and get to know other forum members once the lockdown rules are relaxed a bit Also trying to see if there are any members closer to where I live for a smaller get together for some advice and insights

Thanks for the warm welcome @VAD17 and the suggestions. I am looking forward to the upgrades ... definitely suspensions / wheels / coil overs and then exhausts (hopefully can budget for these in 2021 and 2022) before I go down the route of FI. I have been closely watching the track activities on the forum and the likes of Bedford and Silverstone are surely within reach ... the initial months might come too soon for my liking but would love to come along for one of the days in Spring / Summer - hoping for some normalcy in life by then
