  1. I’m getting a 2017MY in Jan so far prices seem similar to what they were a few months ago this new car 2022 BRZ is not out until Octorber 2021 so quite way off.

Not sure if anyone mentioned but apparently 2022 BRZ is a “be spoke platform” whatever that means and has wider wheel track at the rear for more stability, not sure how this will impact handling. Seems to have Toyota D4S port injection still which is interesting. Shares a lot of other stuff too with 1st gen/facelift so just refresh as others have mentioned probably, digital display door open icon and track buttons, transmission, steering wheel etc.

Overall great they upped the BHP, no Turbo not surprised. Digital tach is so plain though do not like that, might as well have stayed analogue/physical mix in that area like GR Supra. Side skirts Look good and rear GR Supra duck bill spoiler. Front lower  bit busy for my liking.

Wonder if Tetsuya Tada involved in any of this stuff, and if he will announce the GR86 when revealed.

  2. I think it seems to have a few bits taken from the GR Supra like the duck bill spoiler which I like. Agree with others it does look like a refresh rather than completely new car, but think that is a good thing due to the great chassis. Believe due to them wanting to keep it under the power of the 2.0 GR Supra there will be no turbo. Not sure how much of the lights are covered but hope they’re less square than they look on this mule camo car. Guessing this is not on TNGA platform due to Subaru involvement, chassis and boxer engine.

  3. Thanks for all the replies glad it did not get too explosive. Was not aware of additive differences and what additives do thanks all for breaking it down. Interesting to hear differing opinions especially for the GT86/BRZ, seems most people who get map are recommended Shell V-Power to use. I’ll definitely try Shell V-Power and Tesco 99 momentum in the 86 in Jan. I think I’ll see about Sainsbury Super Unleaded too as never really thought about it.

  4. As a future GT86 owner hopefully in January was wondering what fuel people used out of the premium ones?

I know GT86 only takes Premium /Super Unleaded Petrol. I use Tesco 99 Momentum in my 2004 Celica face lift usually as closest petrol station. But anyone notice GT86 running better with Shell VPower or Sainsbury’s Super unleaded? Heard BP is not so good due to additives or something, but not tried it myself.

My 2017 facelift model has Alcantara dash elements from factory but no red manifold. The dampers were subtly improved also. Has a leather arm rest.

I do like the Alcantara bits. I had to specify the trim level.

Thanks for showing Alcantara dash. Very nice like the colour. The front seems not as marmite with a number plate on(looks a lot better). Makes it look less fish or frog like. Some angles I find 2017 face lift looks really good others looks very odd.

  6. No they did not get red intake manifold this blew my mind. Luckily I did not go looking for ones with it. As shown above no red intake manifold above and in my example. From what Lauren says above is most info I have ever heard of this, so thanks again for her for all this. Choupolo also shared, seems the dash is trim level related which is interesting, especially that you have to pick it.

  7. Wow this news has hit me for six thanks for the replies, it is crazy how they change cars for each market nowadays. Thanks to both of you for clearing this up, I would have been looking all over the place for Red powdered coated intake manifolds.Good to hear our trims are better here in the UK. I guess this means no alcantara dash for me, (Thanks for example Lauren) due to buying a 2017 or 1st gen. Not sure how much of a difference alcantara makes. I take it the UK face lift models have revised suspension and stiffer chassis I guess. I am very surprised we did not get 205 Hp here and final drive though. I wonder if that is for Emisions reasons or something else, like Toyota not brining 2.0 GR Supra to the UK and not bringing 2021 model either.

  8. Hi All,

I’m looking to get a GT86 January 2021 and nearly bought one last week, but then after family discussion this was curtailed.

My question is I’m looking at a face lift 2017 manual, now I know the first gen and Automatics, even face lift have the plastic D4S cover on then engine intake manifold and plastic dash. But I thought after that all the 2017 models and beyond manual cars got red powered-coated intake manifold and also alcantara dash. Now the 2017 models I have looked at some have no red powdered coated intake manifold, instead it being plastic D4S cover like previous models and a plastic dash.

My question, is there some face lift models from 2016-2017 that did not get red powered coated intake manifold and alcantara dash. Or is this a trim level thing? I know for example some American 2017 face lift GT86’s seem to have previous gen Tachometer and or key start.

    Thanks

  9. Ah don’t say that. I could believe it too as they were desperate to sell cars before but now less so I guess, if dealerships re open. Hope you get the deal you want that would be annoying if they jack up prices.

I think they’re still gonna struggle to be honest to sell as car market is a right state, I just enquired about two Face lifts on Toyota chat about finance etc, and both dealerships are all over me, but I want them to send the car to another Toyota dealership. I’m hoping for desposit £1,600 and Finance £180-£200 an month which is currently possible and APR is non existent at this moment being very low. Not sure if this due to GR 86 coming or 2017 model tax years I’m looking at or something else.

  10. Good luck saving up your mods sound good. Time will fly being in Lockdown etc. I’m getting a GT86 in January coming from a 2004 Facelift Celica. You’ll get a nice one from 10k-12k I’m still undecided on Facelift GT86 or not.
