    My GT86 Stolen- house burgled

Sorry to hear feels like an invasion of privacy. Some of my work colleagues got burgled previous said always made them feel on edge after. Burglars always go for the personal/sentimental stuff too like your car that has such great story behind it. Hopefully they will abandon it somewhere fingers crossed.

    In comes the GR86

Not sure if people seen but apparently DK Tsuchiya (Prof drifter/driver) Initial D allegedly based off of him, was involved with GT86 since 2003 advising Tada-San. Lots of thoughts in here. Comparing to his slightly modeled GT86 and GR86.

    In comes the GR86

As above JW191 posted. More in-depth impressions from Matt Farrah Smokin Tire Podcast stuff from 47mins. A lot of the Americans saying Evolution of our current cars. Lots of door card and screen stuff, interior wise from my 2017 model I see.

    GR86 in Gran Turismo Sport

Gonna have to try it some more on other tracks like Nur. Yeah I think most newer cars generally lack character not sure if it is them making them safer stability wise.

    GR86 in Gran Turismo Sport

Sorry if I put this in the wrong place. Mods please move if needs to go in general chat etc.
  11. As a future GT86 owner hopefully in January was wondering what fuel people used out of the premium ones? I know GT86 only takes Premium /Super Unleaded Petrol. I use Tesco 99 Momentum in my 2004 Celica face lift usually as closest petrol station. But anyone notice GT86 running better with Shell VPower or Sainsbury’s Super unleaded? Heard BP is not so good due to additives or something, but not tried it myself.

    Bonnet alarm sensor

Cheers guys this happened to me only but today on my 2017 GT86 ! Was looking for like 30 mins to see where this cup thing came from, in the engine bay. Lining up the cup to the sensor was a nightmare, I have glued the cup to the adhesive sticker with original Guerilla glue (apparently this can take 100degress of heat, I know engine bay gets very hot). If this does not work, and it falls off again I guess I’ll do the cable tie trick, my other thought was a small firm sponge material or something. Or some people were saying (in some other thread about engine heat) as gets hot in engine bay some epoxy as above also said, or window seal stuff that can take high heat. Not sure how well these epoxy and window seals glue though. It is silly a small sticky pad for this vital piece of plastic.

    In comes the GR86

I have a question and think I know the answer but cannot find it. I take it Tetsuya Tada GT86 and GR Supra Chief Engineer had no involvement in this GR86 car? From design photos I did not see him and no mention. Obviously early days and he could either be busy on S58 engine GR Supra or manual GR Supra, or something else entirely but would be nice to see if he had any input in this.

    Service prices

Cheers for this info as my 2017MY only done 20k miles, I take it intermediate service is fine and they will charge extra on top for brakes, tyres etc if needed doing?
  15. Yeah car parts are mega expensive I want 2017 TRD front lip which looks cool but £800! Regards your badge placements. So some GT86 differ greatly with badges too I have noticed, example mine has no side new 86 circle badges which confused me so I Googled some car images and seems some have no badges, some have them. So it is probably a spec/no spoiler thing as mine just GT86 on bottom right thing or 2017/18/19/20 Model year difference.

    In comes the GR86

I am a excited they say handling is better, and stiffness but it is the same chassis remember so will not be night and day. Will be fun to hear how it drives. It is also like 1cm lower nit sure how many ch difference this will make, wonder how noticeable BHP and torque will be. When I change cars choices will be hard GR Supra, GR86, GR Yaris, 400Z (Hope comes to U.K like 2 litre GR Supra where Toyota changed their mind).

    New GT86 owner

Really nice I was torn betweeen red and white. Now you mention it I only noticed the notchy gear box feeling the other day, but blue Subaru temp light was still on gauge so that maybe be why.
  18. Lovely to hear as my GT86 is also non spoiler. My 2004 Celica had peeling clear coat on spoiler (which always irritated me an £250 to redo) so was excited to see a GT86 without one. More suggestions as I have also thought about this, what about TRD duck bill spoiler, think x2-x4 bolts and some 3M tape from vids I have seen (maybe 3M is tape alone is fine not sure how safe on motorway). Or buy a boot that comes with a spoiler if that exists in scrap yard/eBay may have one.

GR Yaris who's going for it?

I have also test driven GR Supra the cramped cabin was first thing to strike me, and you are correct it is a bit low (I do not quite bang my head but 6’2 so I’m sure I would at some point) and steering a bit numb BMW ish. Will see though I did really enjoy the GR Supra, but depends on how much it comes down in price too. GR86 is very exciting and sounds like GR Yaris is great too. With both much cheaper and may we say better than GR Supra maybe in some respects.

GR Yaris who's going for it?

Enjoyed reading this GR Yaris sounds really fun to drive. In 4 years when I eventually do change cars from my 2017MY GT86 will be a hard choice between GR Supra, GR Yaris and GR86.

    green gunk???

Thanks for this thread was wondering what the green stuff was with black bits on this would explain it.
  22. Just found out from the below link from previous issues the stone chip etc Fight Club rules for my GT862017MY. https://www.gt86.org.uk/forums/forums/topic/2491-chips-and-dinks/ Never get behind/beside trucks Never get behind SUVs I went to Toyota yesterday to get the very common de laminated rimless Rear view mirror replaced under Warranty, and on the way back went behind a truck on some 50/70mph roads and it chipped my windscreen (Autoglass repair £25 through insurance does not affect no claims) and did about 3 stone chips it seems all at the same time. Found out Subaru paint especially on bumpers is the softest paint in the world, closely followed by Toyota.Someone said in some part to the way car paint now has no lead in it. Touched up the stone chips today, but apparently Aero dynamics of the car allow stones flow freely to the bumper, windscreen and roof.
  23. Originally was looking at Pearlescent white (which is really nice) then the guy at the local garage scared me by saying pearlescent paint rather expensive to fix if accident etc. Looked at red and was leaning towards and grey before that. 1st gens was interested in, but wanted the digital gauges the 2017 provides as well as softer suspension, refined track mode and LED lights. Really loving the dynamics so far much more direct steering and feels lighter and more nimble, very different to my 2004 Celica. Very happy with it cannot wait to get deeper into its handling. Besides mirror delaminate issue (Toyota are repairing under 2 year warranty) soon it is in excellent condition.
  24. Thanks for the nice Welcomes, the 2017MY updates are quite nice interior too. Good to hear about other paint experiences. People are right just go for what colour you want and unlikely accidents is not sensible to worry about. Did some touch ups today on two tiny stone chips, and someone said in other posts about touch ups being hard to match especially on pearlescent white as it is clear-white then clear again, but only tiny stone chips but does not look too bad at the moment. Gonna sand them down Monday after work when dry
