    Shadow lights!

Has anyone got shadow lights for their GT86? Just spotted these on eBay and they look pretty swish to me. Apparently plug and play, but just wanted to know everyone’s opinion on them?

    BBK a good idea?

I think you might be right. I’ve managed to find a company online who are local to myself, and include a painting service with a caliper overhaul. The best of both worlds! This maybe a newbie question but do the oem calipers have one pot or more?

    BBK a good idea?

The rear calipers need changing as they are aggressively dragging. I have had them taken apart and reworked but the same issue returned about 4 weeks later. I was advised the only other option is to replace the calipers, as it is probably a problem with the pistons. The reason for replacing the front as well is I can feel them starting to drag, and best to be proactive and get all done at the same time. The £1250 quote was for oem standard callipers, not brembo. It seems a crazy price to me. Sti front brembos wouldn’t solve my problem as the main issue is the rear calipers. Also not overly keen on 2nd hand oems, as they may be more prone to a similar problem in the future.

    BBK a good idea?

Church I know what you are saying but I’ve just been quoted £1250 for a set of 4 oem calipers by Toyota (I have a feeling the front ones may start with the same issue next). Considering this is only for calipers, and doesn’t include pads, discs, fitting etc, wouldn’t it be more cost effective in the long run to upgrade to a bbk? As the price isn’t too dis similar from what Toyota have quoted me. Again, if you have recommendations for street use this is much appreciated.

    BBK a good idea?

So my rear calipers need replacing. I’m thinking to go down the bbk route front and rear. I don’t track the car but do drive it pretty hard on the road. Is a bbk a good idea? I’ve never been over impressed with the oem brakes, and would like an aftermarket option. If so, which bbk would you recommend for street driving?

    Rear View Mirror

Is it still under warranty? I also got mine replaced by the dealership. There seems to be a defect with them where the reflective material seems to peel away. When I brought it up it was changed without discussion, so must be quite common. If you need to buy the part yourself I think they are fairly expensive due to being frameless.

    Calipers Dragging. Uprated options?

The calipers were taken apart and suitably lubed (that always make me laugh!) when I last took it to the garage. I don’t have the tools or the room to do it myself or I would give it a go. It was great for a few weeks after the maintenance but the problem has come back. Taking into account what you said about big break kits, would you have any recommendations about what to replace with that performed better for a daily driver? Or is stock the best option? In regards to dom2497, I appreciate the offer but if I have to replace them with stock I’ll most likely buy new.

    Calipers Dragging. Uprated options?

My rear calipers seem to be dragging, as they make a terrible squealing sound at low speeds (not the same squeal as when braking). Had then loosened before, but the problem has returned. Been advised they probably need to be replaced. Is there any option for uprated calipers without installing a whole big brake kit?

    Alternative dash cluster

Is the MY2017 plug and play or does it require additional rewiring?

    Alternative dash cluster

Bit of a weird question but is anyone aware of alternative dash clusters that fit a 2014 GT86? I have a feeling the newer model clusters may be plug and play? But really I am looking for something a bit smarter, and I’d also like a display that shows fuel mileage remaining until empty, oil temp etc. I’m assuming this is a bit of a long shot...

    EU GT86 modified insurance

Not if you don’t have a U.K. address unfortunately. I will give that Sterling insurance a try.

    EU GT86 modified insurance

I’m already with them. They do short term eu insurance (ie if you are going on holiday), but they insist the insurance will have to be cancelled if I move to the eu.
  13. Hi, I’m new here (I used to be on the owners club but find the forums unusable after they were updated a while ago). Anyway, I might be moving to Europe for a job and I’d like to take my GT86. However, the country regulations are strict so I don’t think I could register it there, and instead was planning to run UK plates on it (legally it can be done for a year). However no car insurance there will insure UK plates. I have spoken to eu wide cover providers here such as Stuart Collins, but they won’t cover me as my GT86 is modified (engine retune, updated exhaust etc). So I’m in a bit of a pickle, I really don’t want to get rid of my GT86. Is anyone aware of U.K. based insurance companies that will cover modified cars on a long term eu wide basis?
