    MartinT's BRZ

BRZ-123- The wiring doesnt exist for the dash speakers on a UK car but it is easy to wire a set in. Took about 30 minutes to route the wires behind the dash and down the centre console. If you have an after market stereo then you can just run the wires behind the dash and wire them directly to the H/U as they normally have enough connections to do this. If like me you are keeping the OEM stereo then it wont be powerful enough to run those as well as the tweeters and 6.5" doors speakers, so its best to fact in an amp. Just adding that midrange makes a massive difference and you find that you dont need to have the volume up so high to hear the music.

    Wanted STI Sideskirts

Try these if you dont mind copies. Even with shipping will work out cheaper than the OEM ones. https://baysonr.com/collections/subaru/products/12-18-subaru-brz-zc6-sti-style-side-skirts-abs

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

How are the TGR wheel nuts holding up??
  5. I made my own. MDF base with the universal holders that came with the gauges, fitted and bonded into the base. Housing then protected and flocked in black. Unit then mounted from underneath using the heater vent and clipped back into place. Wiring routed through the lower dash up through the speaker grille. Cost just shy of £35 with the flocking being the most expensive part. 60mm Oil temp and water temp gauges as staying N/A.

Never again forget to get a Chris Knott quote

Just about to renew my other car with Chris knott using this service. Sent the request and had a phone call at 9am the following day. Quote was £300 cheaper than what I was currently paying so fingers crossed that the quote I received is still valid tomorrow morning. So far a very positive experience and will be looking at insuring the GT86 when it is due in January.

    Steering Wheel Locks

I have a steering lock on mine as it's another added security measure that any potential thief has to get past. We have had a few car thefts around the local area and most of the comments are "I wish I had brought a steering wheel lock". Anything I can do or add to the car to make somebody think twice about stealing it then I will but ultimately it is down to personal choice.

    Lowering/coilovers on htautos lip kit

I havnt lowered mine because I have the Maxton front splitter on. Even dropping the car by 15mm will cause issues with speed bumpers, kerbs etc so if you are catching things now you will have to be extra careful. There is only a 35mm gap from the bottom of the splitter to the ground so depending on the drop that is what you will lose at the front. Not sure whether the HT autos is the same but I assume its not that far off.

    Seriously want a GT86

Welcome and good choice in car. (not red though as we all know pearl white is the best colour :) ) Mine cost £10K with 69,000 miles on it (14 plate) from a Toyota dealer so your budget is doable. Just check with the higher mileage ones that the 60,000 service has been completed otherwise factor in the change of spark plugs into your purchase price. I was lucky that the previous owner had the car serviced at a main dealer, so all the servicing and work was recorded up purchase.
  10. Use a hardened nail to remove it unless you have a punch tool. Mine was a pain in the arse to remove when i changed over the reverse lockout. Also put a towel in front of the heater surround in case you miss with the hammer. Also if you are taking the lockout off make sure it is in reverse gear before removing otherwise you will have to remove the centre console to put the mechanism back in place.

  12. If you do go the coilover route I would happily take the 15mm springs off your hands With the spiders just jet wash the buggers out.

  17. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2235481 This is the one that i might try. Seems to have sorted the hunchback look out.
  18. 2014 version. I have found a potential fix on ft86club so i will update when i get chance to take a proper look. It involves adding some tabs onto the left and right sides of the centre section or removing the middle tab that is causing the dip in the middle.
  19. Hi. Dont suppose anyone has an armrest with red stitching sitting in a garage somewhere they no longer need.
